Mike Sinyard steps down as CEO of Specialized

For the first time in its history, Specialized will have a different CEO than Mike Sinyard. The founder of the brand has stepped down from his position as CEO of the company and has appointed Scott Maguire, a former executive at Dyson, in his place.

Sinyard started in 1973 selling cycling components from a trailer attached to his bike and has been able to create one of the most important bicycle brands in the history of this sport. Now he takes a step back but will continue to lead the brand as founder and as a link between cyclists and the brand.

"I have been looking for the ideal leader for Specialized for years; Scott is perfect because he integrates design thinking, engineering capability, supply chain experience, and operational excellence to drive meaningful innovation for customers and employees. In addition to that, Scott brings together and leverages the strengths of diverse people and cultures to create simplicity from complexity", Sinyard explained in a statement.
