Megamo shakes up the market with the new Ryal: Avinox M2, removable battery of 800 Wh, 160 mm, and prices starting from €3,999

Megamo continues to expand its electric offensive with Avinox technology. Following the arrival of the Reason, the Catalan brand now presents the new Ryal MY27, an e-MTB with 160 mm of travel that maintains capabilities clearly oriented towards trail and enduro, but with a more accessible and practical philosophy for those looking for a powerful bike for the mountains without needing to resort to a model as radical as the Reason.

The new Ryal is precisely born to fill that gap within the brand's catalog. According to Megamo, the Reason already meets the needs of users more focused on performance and aggressive enduro, while the Ryal seeks to combine the potential of the Avinox system with a friendlier geometry and greater ease of use in day-to-day life.  

Up to 150 Nm and 1,500 W with the Avinox system

One of the main arguments for the Ryal is the use of Avinox motors across the range. The higher versions are equipped with the M2S motor, capable of developing up to 150 Nm of torque and a peak power of 1,500 W, while the entry-level models use the Avinox M2, slightly less powerful but maintaining a very high performance figure within the current market.

Megamo particularly highlights the relationship between power and weight of the system. The Avinox M2S weighs only 2.6 kg and, according to data provided by the brand, far exceeds the power and torque figures of other reference motors in the segment.  

But beyond the figures, the great novelty of the Ryal is the battery. Against the current trend of fully integrating batteries into the frame, Megamo has opted for a removable 800 Wh battery across the range. The capacity remains at the level of the most capable e-MTBs on the market, but allows the battery to be removed for charging outside the bike, transported more easily, or even quickly replaced when necessary.  

A different geometry from the Reason

Although both bikes share part of their DNA, Megamo insists that the Ryal is not a simple adaptation of the Reason. The geometry has been rethought to offer a more intuitive and less physically demanding ride.

The reach is reduced in all sizes, the stack increases to achieve a more upright position, and the head angle changes from 63.5° to 64.4°. Additionally, the wheelbase is shortened and the chainstays remain constant at 455 mm regardless of size. All of this aims for a bike that is more manageable at normal usage speeds, more comfortable on long days, and accessible to a wider range of cyclists.  

Size S is one of the clearest examples of this approach. Megamo has significantly reduced its dimensions compared to the Reason to better accommodate shorter riders, thus expanding the potential user range of the platform.  

Aluminum frame and simplified maintenance

The Ryal uses a frame completely made of aluminum, both in the front triangle and the rear. The brand has prioritized robustness and ease of maintenance, two aspects especially important in a bike subjected to the high power levels of the Avinox system.  

The suspension platform maintains 160 mm of travel front and rear and derives directly from that used in the Reason. Megamo also highlights the use of oversized bearings at all pivot points and the option to choose between external or internal cable routing according to user preferences.  

Another relevant aspect is that the 29-inch wheels have been specifically validated to withstand the high torque levels generated by these motors, with tests conducted up to 250 Nm.

The new Ryal will be available in four builds and three color finishes —Black, Red, and White— sharing in all cases the same frame, the removable 800 Wh battery, the Avinox DPC100 display, and the 29-inch wheels.

With this new platform, Megamo aims to bring the Avinox experience to a broader audience. It maintains power and autonomy figures typical of a high-performance e-MTB, but combines them with a less extreme geometry and a solution increasingly demanded by many users: a high-capacity battery that can be easily removed.
