Marlen Reusser dominates the time trial from start to finish to claim a historic fifth European title
Marlen Reusser remains the great world reference against the clock. Just two weeks after defending her world title in Montreal, the Swiss has been crowned European time trial champion 2026 after dominating the 22.1 kilometers of Šenčur. Demi Vollering took silver 23 seconds behind, and the French Juliette Berthet completed the podium. Text pasted
With this, Reusser now has five European time trial titles and becomes the most decorated cyclist in the history of the event, breaking the tie of four victories she held with Ellen van Dijk.

The Slovenian course seemed to offer a good opportunity for Demi Vollering to challenge the great Swiss specialist. The 22.1 kilometers accumulated 367 meters of elevation and concentrated much of its difficulty during the first sector, with the climb towards Možjanca. But even there, there was no discussion.

After the climb, the terrain favored Reusser even more. The Swiss was able to take advantage of her power in the fast sections and extended her lead over Vollering to 20 seconds at the second intermediate point, located around kilometer 16. Berthet was then in third place ahead of Longo Borghini. Text pasted

The last flat kilometers towards Šenčur confirmed a victory that had practically been secured since the first partial.
Fifth European title for Marlen Reusser
Reusser crossed the finish line with a time of 31:30.84, enough to surpass Demi Vollering by 23.33 seconds. The Dutchwoman had to settle for silver just four days after being crowned European road champion.
The battle for bronze was much tighter. Juliette Berthet secured third place at 1:10.13 behind the winner, while Elisa Longo Borghini finished fourth at 1:16.67. Only six seconds separated them in the fight for the podium. Text pasted
Dominika Włodarczyk rounded out the Top 5 at 1:30, while one of the main contenders before the start, Franziska Koch, finished outside the top ten.

For Reusser, the victory extends an extraordinary few weeks. The Swiss arrived in Slovenia after defending the World Time Trial title in Montreal, and now adds a fifth European title to those won in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2025.
With this victory, she definitively surpasses Ellen van Dijk's four titles and stands as the sole record holder of the Women's European Time Trial Championship. Text pasted
