Mona Mitterwallner's Cannondale Scalpel LAB71 in detail
At the beginning of 2023, Cannondale introduced its LAB71 line, a denomination with which the brand calls its most exclusive bikes and creations. So far we had only seen it in its road and gravel range, but the first Cannondale Scalpel LAB71 has already reached the brand's catalog and the World Cup by the hand of Cannondale Factory Racing.

As we said, Cannondale reserves its LAB71 line for frames and bikes that seek excellence in competition above all else. Either with some kind of special carbon or creating hyper-lightweight versions that go a step beyond the top of the range.
In the case of the Cannondale Scalpel LAB71 catalog, the first LAB71 mountain bike alongside a hardtail Scalpel HT version, we read that its frame is made of Hi-MOD Ultralight 0-Series carbon, Cannondale's most advanced carbon, but in appearance it is identical to the rest of the range.

Also, in the case of the Cannondale Factory Racing bikes you can see that their frame dispenses with the usual Flexpivot rubber protectors (the end area of the chainstays). Something that surely helps to save weight in competition.
