Jon Morillo can now say that he has completed one of the most demanding ultramarathon challenges on a bicycle. The cyclist from Irún has managed to finish the 10x10x10 Project, an adventure that has led him to complete 10 Everests in 10 consecutive days, each one on a different climb between Navarra and Gipuzkoa.

In total, Morillo has covered 2,346 kilometers and accumulated 88,480 meters of positive elevation, a figure that helps to put the scale of the challenge into perspective. For reference, the 2026 Tour de France totaled 54,450 meters of elevation spread over 3,333 kilometers and 21 stages. That is to say, in just ten days Jon Morillo has accumulated around 62% more elevation than the entire French tour.

The adventure began on August 9 in Amezti (Ituren) and ended on August 18 on the ascent to San Marcial (Irún), where family, friends, and dozens of fans were waiting to celebrate the end of a project that required enormous physical, mental, and logistical effort.

An Everesting consists of repeatedly ascending the same climb until accumulating 8,848 meters of positive elevation, the height of Mount Everest. It is one of the most popular endurance challenges within ultramarathon cycling, although it is usually completed on a single climb.

The uniqueness of the 10x10x10 Project was precisely to increase the difficulty by performing a different Everesting each day, also changing location every day. To achieve this, Morillo linked the ascents of Amezti, Urroz, Beartzun, Justiz, Jaizkibel, Aritxulegi, Agiñá, Arkale, La Piedad, and San Marcial.

Each stage involved around 230 kilometers on average and between 13 and 14 hours of daily activity, with very little time to rest before starting again the next day.

A challenge supported by family and fans

In addition to the enormous physical wear, the challenge also required significant organization. During the ten days, Jon Morillo had the support of a small team made up of family and collaborators who took care of food, logistics, and assistance during each day.

As the project progressed, numerous cyclists also joined him for part of the ascents, a possibility that the challenge itself kept open from the beginning for any fan who wanted to share some kilometers with him.

A personal challenge beyond records

Although the project has an unprecedented dimension by combining ten consecutive Everests on ten different climbs, Morillo has explained that the challenge cannot be certified as a Guinness World Record, as the certification conditions required it to be developed differently and without the presence of official judges.

Far from diminishing its value, the cyclist has stated that completing the challenge was the true objective. After crossing the finish line in San Marcial, he acknowledged feeling satisfied for having carried through to the end a project prepared over months that allowed him to overcome one of the greatest challenges of his sports career.

With the 10x10x10 Project now completed, Jon Morillo signs one of the most striking ultramarathon adventures of the year and demonstrates how far a challenge built on thousands of kilometers of preparation and ten consecutive days of extreme effort can go.
