More elevation gain than the entire 2026 Tour in just ten days: the incredible 10x10x10 challenge by Jon Morillo

Road 04/08/26 10:17 Migue A.

From August 9 to 18, Jon Morillo, cyclist and Local Hero of FOCUS along with Irun Bike Center, will attempt to complete 10 Everests in 10 consecutive days, each on a different mountain pass. In total, he will face 2,346 kilometers and 88,480 meters of positive elevation gain, an unprecedented ultra-endurance challenge that will traverse Navarra and Gipuzkoa.

To put this adventure into context, it is worth remembering that the 2026 Tour de France has accumulated 54,450 meters over its 21 stages and 3,333 kilometers of route

Jon Morillo will seek an unprecedented challenge: to complete 10 Everests in 10 days and on 10 different mountain passes

If he manages to complete the challenge, he will have covered nearly 2,300 kilometers and surpassed more than 88,000 meters of positive elevation gain in just ten days.

Morillo will undertake this adventure on a FOCUS IZALCO MAX 9.9, a road bike designed for maximum performance on mountain routes.

Everesting: a major challenge every day

Everesting is one of the most well-known endurance challenges in ultra-cycling. Its goal is to ascend 8,848 meters of positive elevation gain in a single outing, the official height of Mount Everest.

In recent years, thousands of Everests have been completed around the world, although Jon Morillo's project adds the additional difficulty of doing a different one each day and accumulating the extreme fatigue of repeating it for 10 days.

Ten mountain passes in ten days

The project’s schedule will cover various points in Navarra and Gipuzkoa, starting on August 9 in Amezti (Ituren) and finishing on August 18 in San Marcial (Irún).

The planned program is as follows:

Date Mountain Pass Approximate Distance
August 9 Amezti 216 km
August 10 Urroz 234 km
August 11 Beartzun 202 km
August 12 Justiz 235 km
August 13 Jaizkibel 225 km
August 14 Aritxulegi 234 km
August 15 Agiña 253 km
August 16 Arkale 275 km
August 17 La Piedad 243 km
August 18 San Marcial (Irún) 229 km

The route will begin in Navarra during the first days and will then move to Gipuzkoa, where the last seven Everests will take place.

A cyclist with experience in these types of challenges

Although the project represents a huge leap in difficulty, Jon Morillo (24) already has experience in these types of ultra-endurance challenges. In recent months, he has used various Everests as part of his preparation, accumulating experience in both long-duration efforts and in managing nutrition, rest, and recovery.

All that work will now culminate in the 10x10x10 Project, a proposal that combines endurance, planning, and complex logistics to link ten consecutive days of maximum demand.

An open challenge for anyone who wants to join him

One of the ideas of the project is that fans can experience it from within. Any cyclist who wishes can approach any of the mountain passes on the schedule and accompany Jon Morillo during part of the ascent or complete one of the Everests with him, always adapting the route and effort to their own capabilities.
