Jack Burke continues to attract the attention of professional teams through Strava, he has now taken the KOM of Alpe d'Huez from Sepp Kuss
He's done it again. A few days ago, amateur cyclist Jack Burke made headlines after beating Vincenzo Nibali's record on the Mortirolo, a mark that seemed untouchable. Weeks before, he had done the same with the KOM on the Stelvio. Behind these challenges is a clear message, Jack Burke's desire to compete in the World Tour.
Canadian Jack Burke continues to showcase himself on Strava to attract the attention of World Tour teams
Tremendous tenacity from amateur cyclist Jack Burke, who a few years ago was a professional cyclist in several Continental category teams, a career he had to leave after being hit by a car in early 2023 which left him without a team. Now he is determined to make his dream of competing in the World Tour a reality.
A story that began, as Burke himself recounted to the Relevo portal, several weeks ago when he managed to take the KOM on the legendary Stelvio that was held by Jai Hindley. The story had a great impact on social media, so he decided to repeat it on the Mortirolo where, in addition to beating Vincenzo Nibali's record, he left a clear message: "I just want an opportunity in the World Tour."

Now, Burke has continued with that campaign to attract the attention of top category teams by taking another legendary KOM like Alpe d'Huez, which was held by Sepp Kuss, although this time he only managed to improve the record by just 9 seconds, setting it at 35 minutes and 56 seconds.
The idea of beating these KOMs came to him after trying out for the Zwift Academy and not being able to get past the initial stages. Both Stelvio and Mortirolo are located near Livigno, one of the usual places in Italy for altitude training camps for cyclists, including himself, so he knew those climbs well and the times to beat. After doing it on the Stelvio and seeing the impact on social media, he saw the opportunity to attract attention to himself.
In fact, Jack Burke states that in the last few days, 4 World Tour teams have contacted him to consult his Training Peaks data and he has even received offers from Continental teams. However, Burke states that that stage is behind him and what he wants is to compete in a top category team and be the domestique for a great leader.
