The new Holocene Aero Vélos is made 100% from recycled carbon fiber

The New Zealand artisan bike firm Vélos has created the world's most sustainable road bike made from discarded carbon fiber from other processes such as sailboat manufacturing or the aerospace industry. What others consider waste for Vélos is the raw material from which their latest superbike is born.

Sustainability and exclusivity go hand in hand in the Vélos Holocene Aero

Founded in 2019, the young New Zealand brand Vélos surprises us with an incredible aerodynamic bike. A machine with a design that will not go unnoticed in which the design with a continuous top tube from the head tube to the rear dropouts that taper as it approaches the seat tube to transform into two slender stays stands out.

Following the concept of the latest aerodynamic launches on the market, the profiling of the tubes is especially worked on the front, which first contacts the wind. This Vélos Holocene does not disdain however the aerodynamics provided by the seat tube, of generous dimensions and profiled.

Mention that the seatpost has a proprietary system that dispenses with clamp or adjustment wedge seeking to eliminate what, according to Vélos, is one of the weak points of the frames.

A bike that is built to order and tailored to the specific user but that, above all that exclusivity, so much so that the brand only manufactures 100 frames a year, and bold design stands out for using for its manufacture pieces of carbon discarded from other industries thus seeking the least possible environmental impact.

The Toray carbon fiber that Vélos uses originates from the company SailGP, responsible among other things for manufacturing the kiwi boat of the America's Cup sailing. That is, it does not just take carbon remains but those with the quality required for the manufacture of the Holocene.

A bicycle that, despite its exclusivity, does not have a ridiculous price being around 14,000 € in an assembly with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and top-level carbon wheels. Similar price to many top-of-the-range models on the market with the addition that the Holocene is a bike made to our measure and exclusively for us and painted according to our specifications.
