Sennheiser launches new wireless headphones with heart rate and temperature sensor. The German company expands its fitness range with the birth of the Momentum Sport, which offer the possibility of sending data to various applications. The headphones will go on sale on April 9th at a price of around 300 euros.
Sennheiser Momentum Sport: technology for headphones designed to collect biometric data
The German firm Sennheiser has taken advantage of the celebration of the CES 2024 -the world's largest technology showcase- to unveil the new products that will bulk up its catalog. The presentation took place in the tireless city of Las Vegas and, among the revealed items, the headphones that the German manufacturer has made for sports practice stand out.
The Momentum Sport are sophisticated wireless headphones capable of measuring heart rate through a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor -a technique that analyzes changes in blood volume in a specific area of the body-. In addition, they also measure body temperature.
Sennheiser claims that this heart rate data can be sent to various devices and popular sports applications, such as Apple Watch/Health, Strava, Garmin or Peloton, among others; however, they warn that for a deep analysis without connection, the Polar Flow application group is needed.

The Momentum Sport have other functions, such as the ability to minimize the noise of footsteps, breathing or, in the brand's words, "other bodily distractions". The acoustic relief channel and the semi-open design allow a "natural" perception of the environment.
The battery of the headphones lasts six hours, although the case in which they are stored has three additional recharges, so they can have a maximum autonomy of up to 24 hours. As for charging time, ten minutes provide 45 minutes of use.
The brand has informed that the headphones are not yet on sale, but will hit the market on April 9th for a price of around 300 euros. The range will be available in three colors: Polar Black, Burned Olive and Metallic Graphite.
However, it should be remembered -apart from being a reckless decision that seriously jeopardizes the health and integrity of the cyclist- the prohibition of wearing headphones while cycling. The Law establishes that it is illegal to use headphones on the bike, so they can only be used on the roller or indoor sessions.
