From the European podium to a break due to illness, Evie Richards talks about her health issues in recent months
The world champion of Short Track Evie Richards is already in the Les Gets World Cup ready to start the second half of the season, but before that, she shared a message on her social media about the difficulties she has faced in recent months after contracting Covid following the European Championship in Melgaço.
Evie Richards seeks to find balance in Les Gets after several months of health issues
The cyclist from Trek Factory Racing started the 2025 season strong with 2 victories in the Short Track of the Brazil World Cup and a third place in the XCO race. Since then, her performance has had some ups and downs but she has been close to the Top 10 in XCO and fighting for the podium in the Short Track. She even won the silver medal in the XCO at the European Championship. Now Richards talks about the health problems she has had to deal with and the decision to prioritize her mental state over performance.
"Unfortunately, I caught Covid after the European Championship, which affected me quite a bit. As athletes, we walk a very fine line between training enough and overdoing it, and after Brazil, I became a bit obsessed with training and neglected the things that make me happy. Without that balance, all I did was get sick. Although I missed the altitude training camp, the positive side was that I was able to reunite with my family in Cornwall, which filled my heart with love...", explained the British champion.

With the calendar still open in the second half of the year, Richards aims to rediscover her best version. "I am ready for the next part of the season, maybe not as fit as I would have liked, but with more balance and happiness," she concluded in her message, making it clear that the next goal is to compete with full physical and mental readiness.
