Evenepoel will not be the only leader: the Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe presents its great team for the 2026 Tour
Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe has confirmed the lineup with which it will face the Tour de France 2026 and has done so by announcing an unusual strategy among the major contenders for the general classification: the team will arrive at the start in Barcelona with a dual leadership formed by Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz.
Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe bets on dual leadership in the Tour: Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz will share the honors
The German formation believes that the combination of both riders will allow them to have more tactical alternatives against the race's top favorites. After all, both Evenepoel and Lipowitz arrive with similar credentials: both finished third in the Tour in the last two editions and won the best young rider classification.

Evenepoel and Lipowitz, two leaders to fight for the podium
This will be Evenepoel's third consecutive participation in the Grande Boucle and Lipowitz's second, as he continues to establish himself as one of the most solid climbers in the peloton.

From Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, they highlight that the characteristics of both are complementary. The Belgian brings explosiveness, time trial ability, and versatility on all types of terrain, while the German has shown great consistency in three-week races.

Zak Dempster, the team's head sports director, explained the philosophy with which they approach the race:
“The Tour is no longer won solely by an exceptional rider, but by an exceptional team. We believe we have one of the most complete lineups at the start. With Remco and Florian, we have two leaders who have already proven they can reach the Tour podium. Their different strengths offer us tactical options that could be decisive.”
Jai Hindley completes a strong block for the general classification
In addition to their two leaders, the squad will have another rider who knows what it is like to stand on the podium of a grand tour: Jai Hindley.

The Australian arrives after finishing third in the Giro d'Italia 2026 and will be a key piece in the mountain stages, especially in a first week that includes iconic climbs such as the Col d’Aspin and the Col du Tourmalet.
Hindley's presence makes Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe one of the teams with the greatest depth among the contenders for the general classification.
Maxim Van Gils, the great offensive asset
Another standout name in the selection is Maxim Van Gils.
The Belgian recently returned to competition after a serious fall and achieved a stage victory in the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes just a few days after reappearing. His ability to perform in broken terrain and explosive finishes offers the team an additional card to seek partial victories or generate tactical movements in the mountains.
Experience to control the race
The sports management has also opted for riders with experience in grand tours to protect their leaders during the three weeks of competition.
Jan Tratnik will act as road captain and will be a key piece in the positioning and organization of the team within the peloton. Alongside him will be Mattia Cattaneo, who will contest the fifteenth grand tour of his career and will play an important role from the inaugural team time trial.

Power for the flat stages
The block is completed with Nico Denz and Tim van Dijke, responsible for providing power in the flat sections and helping to maintain the team's control during the most nervous days.
Van Dijke will debut in the Tour de France after recovering from a clavicle fracture suffered during a training camp at altitude, while Denz arrives with the experience of multiple grand tours and three stage victories in the Giro d'Italia.
Sports director Patxi Vila summarized the potential of the formation:
“The strength of this team goes far beyond Remco and Florian. We have experienced climbers, complete riders, and cyclists capable of taking on responsibilities in any race situation. Each Tour develops its own dynamics, and with this lineup, we have a response for almost any possible scenario.”
