The changes in the structure of INEOS Grenadiers begin
After several months analyzing the internal situation of the team and with the season already concluded, INEOS Grenadiers has announced changes in its technical team and a restructuring of its performance chart seeking to rediscover the path to victory and stop the free fall in which it had entered after a poor season, rumors of internal wars and the possible departure of its star Tom Pidcock that may not finally occur.
INEOS Grenadiers starts fresh by renewing its staff
As we have been telling you for a few weeks now, the situation within the INEOS Grenadiers had been deteriorating to a point where the only option was a total renewal.
Although the chaos that according to some cyclists existed within the technical staff had not leaked to the public until this last part of the season, INEOS Grenadiers had already anticipated the situation by incorporating Scott Drawer as performance director last spring. Drawer has spent the last 6 months reviewing the team's operation both in competition and out of it, and now this translates into changes for the upcoming 2025 season.

Firstly, the performance structure will be divided into three branches that will focus on the Grand Tours and stage races; a second one that will take care of the classics and one-day races; and, finally, a third branch that will be in charge of developing future talents. Additionally, a new focus will be given to aspects such as specialized time trial training, power and speed development; the science of endurance training, race strategy, aerodynamics, and technological development incorporating practices already used in sports such as triathlon, track cycling, or cross-country skiing.
With all this, INEOS Grenadiers has announced a series of additions to its staff including former professional cyclist Kurt Asle Arvesen who was already part of the team during the Team Sky era and will become the head sports director; former cyclist Leonardo Basso as sports director; Tom Helleman, sports scientist and coach coming from the DSM team who will be the head performance coach.
From athletics comes one of the responsible for the successes of the Netherlands at the Paris Olympic Games, Mehdi Kordi, who will take on the role of director of innovation and performance support. On the other hand, world aerodynamics expert Lucca Oggiano, who has already been collaborating with INEOS Grenadiers playing an important role in challenges such as Filippo Ganna's hour record, joins the staff permanently as director of research and development having to collaborate with the team's material suppliers to have the best bikes, wheels, etc.
A renovation that has not yet concluded and will continue to incorporate some more names as the season approaches and is the result of "six months listening, observing, and working with the team to determine what is needed to prepare for excellence in 2025 and beyond. I have been analyzing every element of how we compete, how we train, and how we support our cyclists in the changing landscape of professional cycling" in the words of Scott Drawer himself.
Drawer added "We will spend the rest of this year making more positive changes: setting performance plans and goals for the team, executing some key training camps, and preparing the entire team to compete hard in January. We want to set the right tone from the start and will work closely with our riders to establish the culture that will facilitate success and will be crucial for our future".
