Campagnolo presents a €1,950 corkscrew
The Vicenza brand is launching a limited edition of its traditional corkscrew, one of the most typical cycling gifts at this time of year, bathed in gold. A gift full of exclusivity that will delight cyclists who enjoy both good bikes and the best wines.
Add a touch of elegance to your table with Campagnolo's Big corkscrew
Campagnolo's history is full of searches for solutions to problems that the legendary Tulio Campagnolo encountered. The origin of the brand is legendary when, in 1927, on the ramps of the Dolomite pass of the Croce d'Aune, he found himself unable to loosen the wheel of his bike to turn it around and fit the sprocket for the climb with the wing nuts that were used at the time, as his hands were numb from the cold of a freezing day. This gave rise to the idea of the quick release which was to be the seed of the famous brand of components.
In the 1960s, Tulio Campagnolo encountered a new problem, this time at the table. Tired of corks that broke and ruined the tasting of a few select bottles of wine, he devised an infallible corkscrew whose design has since been imitated ad infinitum thanks to its self-centring design that avoids piercing the twisted cork and its long spiral that allows the short cork to be held completely in order to extract it effortlessly by acting on its levers.

The Big corkscrew, as Tulio Campagnolo once conceived it, is still present in the brand's catalogue and has become year after year one of the most exquisite gifts that can be given to a cyclist, who is also a wine lover, of course.
This Christmas, Campagnolo has given a twist to this timeless product by launching an exclusive limited edition available in two versions: one 24-carat gold plated and the other finished in 18-carat rose gold.
Obviously, when the words limited and gold go together, as you can imagine, it's not a cheap gift: €1,950 is the cost of this exclusive gift.
Fortunately for those with less healthy bank accounts, Campagnolo still has the traditional model in its catalogue, available in a steel version for €179, a chrome edition that goes up to €199 and another with a titanium finish for which you will have to pay €209.
