BMC confirms its return to women’s cycling with sponsorship of Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi in 2027
BMC already has a team for its return to the women's professional peloton. The Swiss brand has announced an agreement with Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi to supply bicycles and components starting in 2027. This move confirms the new sports strategy that the company revealed just a few days ago when it announced the closure of its official MTB XCO team to strengthen its presence in other disciplines.
BMC will be the new bicycle supplier for Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi
Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi will change bicycles for the 2027 season. After competing in 2026 with models from the Chinese manufacturer XDS, the Basque team will start using BMC bicycles thanks to an agreement reached between the Swiss brand and Fundación Euskadi.

The collaboration will not be limited to frames. BMC will also provide the team with wheels and handlebar and stem sets, thus expanding its presence in the equipment used by the riders.

For BMC, this marks its return to professional women's cycling after a long absence. Although the company has maintained a prominent presence in the men's peloton, currently as a supplier for the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, it has not sponsored a women's team since before the creation of the UCI Women's WorldTour in 2016, as noted by Cyclingnews.
The inclusion of Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi will also allow BMC to associate with a project that has progressively grown since its debut in the continental category in 2020 to reach the UCI Women's ProTeam category in 2025.
BMC's new strategy begins to take shape
This announcement comes just a week after BMC confirmed a significant reorganization of its sports programs.
As we reported when informing about the closure of BMC Factory Racing XCO, the company had decided to end its official World Cup structure at the end of 2026 and shift part of its efforts to women's road cycling and gravel.
At that time, BMC already announced its intention to return to the women's peloton, although it had not yet revealed which team it would do so with. It is now confirmed that the chosen team is Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi.
The Swiss manufacturer will maintain its relationship with Tudor in men's road cycling while developing a new sponsorship strategy that includes a greater presence in gravel and support for other MTB structures.
An agreement to grow in women's grand tours
David Heine, BMC's marketing director, highlighted the importance of this new collaboration for the company:
"This partnership represents a new and exciting chapter for BMC. As one of the brands that supported women's cycling from its beginnings, we are proud to return to the highest level of this sport alongside Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi."
Heine also pointed out the international growth of women's cycling as one of the reasons justifying this commitment.
For his part, Iñaki Isasi, president of Fundación Euskadi, believes that the agreement represents a step forward for the project:
"Their technical standards and performance culture align with the ambitions of Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi. This support allows us to face the season with confidence and continue to grow our women's team to the highest level."
The Basque team will have riders like Sandra Alonso in 2027, who will return to competition after her maternity leave and brings experience in the Women's WorldTour, including her participation in three editions of the Tour de France.
As for the equipment, the riders will use BMC Teammachine SLR 01 frames, although it has not yet been confirmed whether Shimano will continue as the groups supplier after having equipped the team during 2026.
