Amflow PX Carbon Pro review: a high-end e-MTB that delivers more than its price suggests
It is rare to see a company like Amflow, which has only been in the market for a year and a half, cause such a stir in the cycling industry. The Asian brand has made a significant impact with attributes and features that surpass what has been offered in the market so far.
Alongside the second generation of Avinox motors, which offer up to 1500 W of power and 150 Nm of maximum torque, Amflow has presented its new crown jewel. The Amflow PX Carbon Pro is the most powerful eBike, but also the most refined and capable model from the brand to date. We have thoroughly tested it for a good while, and here we share all the details.
Amflow PX Carbon Pro: reputation in its own right
It has been in the market for a very short time, and everyone knows and perfectly locates the company Amflow. Initially, it rose to fame for being the first to mount Avinox motors, two projects that, in fact, were born together. Now that many brands are mounting Avinox on their bikes, one might think that Amflow would lose prominence, but nothing could be further from the truth. This year, it has expanded its catalog with very interesting models that offer outstanding features and performance at very competitive prices.

And the most special bike in the range is this PX Carbon Pro. It incorporates the new Avinox M2S motor and a 700 Wh battery with a very high energy density, allowing for a truly streamlined frame design. All of this is accompanied by a top-tier assembly.

The Amflow PX Carbon Pro is a bike oriented towards Trail or light Enduro, with 160 mm of travel in its front suspension and 150 mm in the rear, featuring a mullet configuration as standard (29” front wheel and 27.5” rear), although it can accommodate a 29” rear wheel. Additionally, it has a setup that offers more capacity than previous models, for example, with reinforced casing tires. Its progressive geometry is fully customizable, as we will see later, allowing us to adapt the bike's behavior to our preferences.

Focusing on the frame, what stands out the most is how streamlined it is for an eBike. Its diagonal tube could easily pass for that of a non-assisted bike, and this, combined with the compact dimensions of the Avinox motor, makes the silhouette of the Amflow resemble that of a trail bike with a modern aesthetic and without elements that distort the visual harmony.

Upon closer inspection, we can see that the finishes of the frame are really good, with rounded and smooth shapes predominating, without any hard edges anywhere on the bike. An example can be found in the stays and their upper reinforcement joint, with very organic and clean shapes that catch the eye.
Where we do appreciate a more robust design is in the main frame and in the shock extension, although material has also been removed where it is not necessary to reduce weight as much as possible.

At the front, we can see that the integration of the wiring has not been opted for, sacrificing that possible aesthetic gain, but greatly simplifying adjustments and maintenance. The Avinox control screen is perfectly integrated into the top tube.

Regarding protection elements, subtlety has been chosen. At the bottom of the diagonal tube, aside from the motor's own protection casing, we find a small rubber protector, not very thick, but it seems sufficient to protect against stones that may bounce into the area.
The chainstay protector is also adequate, with a slight ribbing to reduce noise from chain impacts.

We also find a rubber flap at the junction of the stays and the front triangle, to prevent dirt from entering the area.
The charging port is located on the left side of the vertical tube and features a simple and effective cover, whose closure incorporates a spring and magnets to keep it closed.

The rear suspension system offers 150 mm of travel through a 4-Bar configuration, with a pivot point at the rear of the stays.
At this pivot point, we find one of the flip chips that the Amflow PX has, but what is surprising is that not only do we have the option to flip it to vary the length of the stays, but in the bike's box, we find other chips with intermediate measurements. This way, we have four possible stay lengths. The bike comes assembled with the shortest option, but if we choose to extend them, it can accommodate a 29” rear wheel.

Another point where we can alter the geometry is at the junction between the shock extender and the main frame. Here, we have the option to vary the bottom bracket height by rotating this chip. It comes in the high position as standard, so it makes sense to modify it if mounting a 29” wheel, to compensate for the height.

The third point where the bike allows geometric adjustments is the head tube. It comes standard with neutral headset cups, leaving the angle at 64.2°. But we find two other sets with different eccentricities in the box, and each can be mounted in both directions, so we have five possible head angles.
With all these adjustments, the bike can be configured in up to 40 different positions, although we will provide the data as it comes assembled from the factory.
As we mentioned, the head angle is 64.2°, steep enough to offer stability and confidence on the most difficult descents. The seat tube angle is 78°, as is the trend in this type of bike, as it favors an optimal pedaling position on climbs and, as we will see later, in this bike, it is crucial.
The reach in size M is 455 mm, not too long, which is important knowing that this Amflow is not manufactured in size S.
The stay length is 438 mm in its shortest position (it can reach up to 451 mm), and the total length in size M is 1231.3 mm.
With these measurements, the Amflow PX makes it clear that it is ready to tackle any terrain, but it keeps the possibility of substantially modifying its behavior open. This will allow us to give it more agility and liveliness if we are looking for a more playful bike, or even mount a 29” rear wheel and make it more suited for long rides.
Top assembly for a bike without limitations
We are looking at the top of the range from Amflow. Although its price of €9,999 is really competitive compared to the most expensive bikes from the competition, this does not mean any compromise in the choice of its components. On the contrary, we find an assembly that maximizes the performance of the Amflow PX.

To start, in the suspensions, we have the best from Fox. A Fox 36 Factory fork, with a Grip X2 cartridge, offering us 160 mm of front travel. The shock is a Fox Float Factory with custom tuning.

The drivetrain is entrusted to the SRAM X0 Transmission group, which guarantees precision and reliability, although the cranks are branded Avinox and measure 155 mm up to size L and 160 mm from size XL. The braking is handled by the powerful Magura Gustav Pro, with 203 mm discs.

The wheels are also branded Amflow, but that does not mean they are of lower quality. They feature asymmetrical carbon rims, with a spectacular finish and 30 mm of internal width. Well-made hubs and Sapim spokes complete a set that denotes quality.

The choice of tires is another element that makes it clear that the PX does not compromise on anything. We are talking about a front tire Schwalbe Magic Mary, with a Gravity Pro radial casing and Ultra Soft compound, in size 29 x 2.5”. The rear is a Schwalbe Albert, with the same casing and Addix Soft compound, in size 27.5 x 2.5”.
The rest of the components are branded Amflow and present very good finishes, highlighting its carbon handlebar and a seat post that offers 190 mm of travel up to size L and 210 mm from size XL (travel adjustable via a spacer that allows reducing it by up to 20 mm).

The final touch is a front light that comes standard and is connected to the bike's battery, so we always have the option to ride illuminated without worrying about another battery.
The Amflow PX Carbon Pro features the best of Avinox
A few months ago, the second generation of Avinox motors was presented, which generated great anticipation. And Amflow's star bike could not miss out on mounting the most exclusive from the brand.
It features the Avinox M2S motor, which offers 150 Nm of maximum torque and up to 1500 W of maximum power, all with a lightweight propulsion unit, weighing 2.59 kg.
But the Amflow PX not only mounts the most advanced motor, but it also incorporates Avinox's most exclusive battery. It is an integrated battery with such a high energy density that it offers 700 Wh in a compact and lightweight format, weighing only 3.18 kg.
Of course, we have the integrated display on the top tube, with a touchscreen and multiple options that allow us to adjust the motor parameters without needing to resort to the mobile app (although this facilitates operations). We can also customize the screens to our liking and even power any external device thanks to its USB-C port.

This bike also includes the 12-amp fast charger, which achieves a surprising charging speed, going from 0 to 80% in 1 hour and 16 minutes.
This is how the Amflow PX Carbon Pro performs on the ground
When we have the Amflow PX in front of us, it is impossible not to be surprised by how , especially in the area of the diagonal tube and the vicinity of the motor, where we are used to generous dimensions to accommodate large capacity batteries and powerful motors. But Amflow has changed the rules in this regard.
Looking at the frame, we see a very well-crafted design, with good finishes wherever you look, making it clear that we are dealing with a product of the highest quality.

Before putting on the pedals, we weighed it, with the bottle holder and light mounted, and it marked 21.22 kg on our scale. A really contained weight for a bike that has an incredibly powerful motor and an assembly with the robustness and reliability needed to tackle any terrain.
After the necessary adjustments, we began our tests. In the first kilometers, we could see that the position on the bike places us quite above the pedals, favoring efficiency on climbs. However, for our taste, we were too upright with the original handlebar configuration, which came mounted with many spacers and had a fairly pronounced rise.

So the first adjustment we made was to remove some spacers under the stem, so that we could transmit a bit more weight to the front wheel, which is vital when tackling very steep ramps with considerable assistance from such a powerful motor.
From there, we have been able to see that the Amflow PX performs perfectly in multiple scenarios. On routes where pedaling predominates on varied terrain, we have a great capacity to tackle any climb, while maintaining a really comfortable position and maximum control when passing through more technical areas.

Focusing on the behavior of the motor, we are probably looking at the system that offers the most power and customization possibilities.
Before modifying any parameters, we have an ECO mode that feels moderate, but more than compensates for the burden of carrying an eBike. From there, we notice firmness in any of the following modes.
Both AUTO and TRAIL modes are dynamic and cover a range of assistance percentages depending on what we contribute. The TURBO mode gives it all, or almost all, as above that we have the BOOST, which gives us the 1500 W that this motor can deliver for a certain period of time, configurable up to 60 seconds.

In our tests, we have only used BOOST to check how far this motor can go, but it is so powerful that we do not find it necessary in real use. Even TURBO offers so much power that it requires a lot of caution and concentration, as depending on the terrain we are on, the bike can become difficult to control.
This is not the first time we have tested this motor, and our conclusion is always that such high assistances do not seem particularly useful in a real use scenario. But the truth is that they do not detract, and it is never too much to know that we have that option in case we want to resort to it.
The interesting thing in this aspect is that the Avinox system allows us not only to modify any of these modes and set the level of assistance we want, but also to create entirely new ones to our liking.

Apart from this, there are other parameters that we can modify and that have a significant impact on the bike's behavior, such as the speed at which assistance starts in each mode, the speed at which it adapts to changes in our power, or the overacceleration when we stop pedaling.
All of this allows us to make the bike docile and controllable in each mode or seek a radical and demanding behavior. Aside from this, there are many more options, to the point that the bike includes a SIM card that we can use for connectivity and location functions.
But the function that has caught our attention the most is the intelligent heart rate control. It consists of linking a heart rate monitor, whether a band or a watch, and setting the target range. From there, the assistance will adapt to the demands of the terrain so that we stay within that heart rate range at all times.

During the use of this function, the modes only limit the maximum power of each of them. That is, in TURBO there will be hardly any limitation, and no matter how steep the climbs are, the motor will adapt to prevent us from exceeding the established heart rate range.
Regarding autonomy, in this bike it can be more relative than in any other, as it depends a lot on how we use the assistance. Amflow talks about up to 144 km of autonomy, and it may be true in certain types of use and economizing a lot, but it is clear that if we abuse the power that this motor offers, the autonomy will suffer.

In any case, as a reference, we, weighing 75 kilos, have done very enduro-like routes, without economizing anything, and we have easily exceeded 1200-1300 meters of elevation gain and 35-40 km without exhausting the battery.
Power to climb and surprising agility to descend
In this model, the brand has opted to expand the range of uses, and this bike is prepared to tackle any route and even venture confidently into enduro terrains.
We, of course, wanted to see how far we could go with the Amflow without feeling like we were exceeding its capabilities.
On technical climbs, we were clear that, due to power, we would have no limitations, but in these terrains, the way the motor delivers that power comes into play.
In terms of traction, the behavior is really well achieved, and thanks to its sensors and software, it is difficult for the rear wheel to slip and for us to lose control because of it on climbs. However, it is true that in high modes the motor can be somewhat abrupt, and on winding climbs where balance is compromised, the bike can become difficult to control.

But, as we mentioned before, the system is fully customizable, and by playing with the motor parameters, we can achieve a balance of power and control. In our case, we managed to leave it completely to our liking and ended up climbing the most challenging trails feeling a great mastery of the bike.
And now comes the most fun part. If we had to define the Amflow on downhill trails in some way, it would undoubtedly be with one word: fun.

We have a very capable bike in terms of suspensions, tires, and geometry, and to that, we must add a really contained weight that allows us to handle it with great ease. This makes the Amflow a bike that allows us to enjoy every downhill trail to the fullest.
The bike offers a perfect balance between maneuverability and stability. In tight curves, it is easy to drive, and we can place it precisely in each line, while when it comes to letting it run, it also conveys a lot of confidence and security.

On very rough and abrupt terrains, we have the advantage of suspensions that work really well and make the most of the available travel. But it is true that we do not have a frame as reinforced as that of a pure enduro, nor do we have a fork with 38 mm stanchions. Although to miss these characteristics, we have to venture into quite radical terrains.
Regarding the performance of the components, we have already mentioned that the suspensions are of the highest level and also offer us wide adjustment possibilities.

The X0 T-Type transmission offers the outstanding reliability and precision we are already accustomed to with this generation of SRAM.
The wheels have confirmed in our tests that they are a high-quality product, providing us with precision in the lines and contributing to the bike's agility thanks to their lightness. Additionally, the sound of its rear hub is noticeable, and we know that for many people this is a pleasant detail.
The tires, as we have already mentioned, seem to us to be one of the strong points of this bike. In addition to having a resistant casing that prevents possible problems in aggressive terrains, they have a tread pattern that has offered us a lot of security.

Special mention should be made of the brakes. The Magura offer a brutal bite, but at all times allow us to modulate that incredible power, being one of the components we liked the most.

The rest of the components branded Amflow more than fulfill their purpose. To put a downside, we would say that the dropper post does not operate at the speed we would have liked. It is no drama, but in the most pressing situations, it takes away a bit of time (we're talking tenths), both when lowering and raising it, before we can focus fully on riding.

Is the new Amflow PX Carbon Pro worth it?
We have been using the Amflow for quite some time, and the truth is that we can understand how a brand newly landed in the market has become so well-known.
We can say that it is one of the bikes that generates the most anticipation wherever we go. It is clear that it has a lot to do with being the first to mount the Avinox unit, but aside from this, we are dealing with a really well-designed product that offers performance and capability on par with the best bikes across a wide range of uses and scenarios.

The Amflow PX is a Trail bike, but with which we can practice quite aggressive Enduro without noticing too many limitations. If we opt for a more versatile and road-oriented use, we have a lightweight and easy-to-move bike, where we do not need to abuse the assistance to enjoy a true MTB feeling.
Additionally, it has so many geometric adjustments that allow us to find the behavior we want. And all of this with a truly attractive aesthetic.

The Amflow PX is offered in two versions. The top of the range is the Carbon Pro that we have tested, available only in this Moonstone Gray finish and priced at €9,999.
The other option is the PX Carbon, which incorporates Fox Performance suspensions, SRAM S1000 AXS transmission, and aluminum rims and handlebars. It is offered in black finish and retails for €6,999.
