All set for Lenzerheide: schedules, favorites, and overall standings of the MTB World Cup

The MTB World Cup returns this weekend to one of its most iconic venues. Lenzerheide (Switzerland) will host the fourth round of the XCC and XCO season on a circuit that has established itself as one of the toughest, most technical, and spectacular on the international calendar.

Preview of the XCC/XCO World Cup Lenzerheide 2026: Blevins returns for one of the most demanding events of the year

After the events held in YongPyong, Nové Město, and Leogang, the battle for the overall classification is tighter than ever in both the men's and women's categories. Additionally, the Swiss event will mark the long-awaited return of Chris Blevins after several weeks away from competition due to a collarbone fracture suffered in Nové Město.

Lenzerheide, one of the great classics of the World Cup

The Bike Kingdom of Lenzerheide has been part of the elite calendar since 2015 and was the host of the MTB World Championships in 2018. Located in the canton of Graubünden, in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the course is characterized by altitude, continuous changes of pace, and extremely demanding terrain.

If the circuit had to be defined in one word, it would be “hard.” The rocky areas, technical descents, roots, and the absence of real recovery moments force riders to maintain a very high power output throughout the race.

For 2026, the course has been slightly shortened compared to previous years, a modification that should favor even more intense and compact races.

What happened during the last visit

Lenzerheide was also one of the standout venues of last season.

In Short Track, the victories went to Jenny Rissveds and Victor Koretzky, both then world champions. In Olympic Cross-country, the great local joy came thanks to Alessandra Keller, who triumphed in front of her home crowd, while Alan Hatherly secured the men's victory after overcoming several critical moments during the final lap.

Men's favorites: Blevins returns to a star-studded grid

As has become customary this season, the provisional entry list features some very significant absences.

Tom Pidcock, winner in Nové Město, will not be in Switzerland as he is focused on preparing for the Tour de France. Also missing from the entries are Swiss Finn Treudler, one of the major revelations of the season's start, reigning world champion Alan Hatherly, and injured Victor Koretzky.

The big news will be the return of Chris Blevins, who will compete again after recovering from the collarbone fracture he suffered just over a month ago.

Despite these absences, the level of the race remains extraordinary. Among the main podium candidates are names like Adrien Boichis, Mathis Azzaro, Dario Lillo, Bjorn Riley, Luca Martin, Filippo Colombo, Charlie Aldridge, Martin Vidaurre, Fabio Püntener, Simon Andreassen, and Luca Schwarzbauer.

Additionally, the race will have a significant local component, and we already know the legion of Swiss cyclists ready to break into the podium of any race.

Women's favorites: showdown between Rissveds, Pieterse, Frei, and Stigger

The women's category will arrive in Lenzerheide with practically all the contenders for the overall present.

The only notable absence will be Evie Richards, who continues to recover from the concussion suffered in Nové Město.

The list of favorites is impressive and will be led by Sina Frei, competing at home, Jenny Rissveds, Puck Pieterse, Laura Stigger, and Nicole Koller, although we will also have to keep a close eye on Alessandra Keller in front of her home crowd.

Alongside them will be Martina Berta, Jennifer Jackson, Ronja Blöchlinger, Mona Mitterwallner, Savilia Blunk, Gwendalyn Gibson, Jolanda Neff, Anne Terpstra, Rebecca Henderson, and Candice Lill.

This is how the men's overall classification looks

Consistency has been the key to the season, and Luca Martin currently leads the overall after practically not stepping off the podium in the first three rounds.

  1. Luca Martin (Cannondale Factory Racing) – 687 points
  2. Dario Lillo (Giant Factory Off-Road Team) – 560 points
  3. Filippo Colombo (SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team) – 513 points
  4. Adrien Boichis (Specialized Factory Racing) – 454 points
  5. Fabio Püntener (Bike Team Solothurn) – 434 points

This is how the women's overall classification looks

Jenny Rissveds arrives in Switzerland as the leader after her victory in Leogang, although the difference with Sina Frei remains relatively small.

  1. Jenny Rissveds (Canyon CLLCTV XCO) – 788 points
  2. Sina Frei (Specialized Factory Racing) – 708 points
  3. Laura Stigger (Specialized Factory Racing) – 561 points
