A professional rotating workstand for €174.99: Decathlon developed it for racing and it could become a bestseller

There are products developed to imagine how a professional mechanic works and others that are born directly from their daily problems. The new Decathlon Pro 360° Bike Workstand belongs to the second group. To design it, the French company consulted the mechanics of VAN RYSEL Roubaix, who pointed out which aspects of conventional stands made them lose time during races.

The result is a workstand that allows the bike to rotate 360°, avoids directly gripping carbon tubes, and features a work area designed to prevent water and dirt from accumulating during washing. Its price is also one of its main selling points: 174.99 euros.

The new Decathlon Pro 360° stand is born from racing

The idea behind the new Pro 360° is quite simple. Decathlon asked the mechanics of the VAN RYSEL Roubaix to identify the limitations they encountered while working on the team's bikes.

It was not just about getting a more robust stand. The goal was to eliminate small inconveniences that, repeated several times during a race, end up slowing down the work. From there, they established as priorities complete access to the bike, a secure attachment for carbon frames, and a work surface designed to withstand frequent cleanings.

The first solution is evident as soon as you see the stand. The bike can rotate completely on its axis, allowing the mechanic to place the component they are working on right in front of them, instead of having to move continuously around the bike.

A fixation designed not to press on the carbon frame

Probably the most interesting point of the Pro 360° is precisely the way it holds the bike.

Classic workstands with clamps are extremely practical, but they require careful consideration of where and with what pressure a carbon bike is fixed. In this case, Decathlon has opted for a mounting system via the fork, thus eliminating the need to apply pressure on the frame tubes or seat post.

Additionally, the stand incorporates a patent-pending stabilization system. According to Decathlon, it offers enough rigidity to perform operations that require high torque and even to wash the bike with a pressure washer without compromising the safety of the frame.

It is a solution clearly inherited from the competitive environment, where bikes are constantly assembled, disassembled, and washed, and where much of the material handled by mechanics is made of carbon.

A tray that also does not accumulate water and dirt

Another detail that comes directly from the experience of the mechanics is that the Pro 360° incorporates a technical rail with a flat design, intended to prevent water and dust from accumulating when cleaning the bike.

On it, there is also a removable tool tray, so that the wrenches and small parts needed during an intervention can remain organized and within reach.

A professional stand for 174.99 euros

And here appears probably the detail that will make the new stand particularly attractive outside of competition pits. Decathlon has set its price at 174.99 euros, aiming to bring some solutions typical of professional stands to a product accessible also for enthusiasts who perform maintenance on their bikes at home.

Éric Rouze, mechanic of the VAN RYSEL Roubaix, explains that the project arose precisely from conveying to Decathlon's engineers what made them lose time working between stages. The intention, according to Rouze, was not to adapt a conventional stand to competition, but to design it from the ground up around the needs of those who work daily in that environment. 

The Decathlon Pro 360° Bike Workstand will be available in Spain, as well as in France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, and Belgium. The announced date for its arrival is November 9, although it can already be reserved on Decathlon's website.
