Les Gets 2019 World Cup: main favorites, schedules and where to watch it

Just one week after the Vallnord World Cup, the best international MTB arrives to Les Gets, France. A new circuit in which Nino Schurter will try to consolidate his leadership in the general and we will see if Kate Courtney has had time to recover or if Jolanda Neff gets her first win of the year. The history about the new Les Gets World Cup

This year will be the first time that the World Cup will be held in Les Get, but actually we are facing a legendary circuit that in 2004 hosted the MTB World Championship. In that 2004 world championship it was where Julien Absalon got his first rainbow jersey. He achieved a total of 5 in his career.

Now Les Gets arrives as proof of the World Cup and his plan is to be on the 2020 and 2021 calendar, and in 2022 to host the World Championship again.

The route of the circuit is 1,100m high, 3.8 km long, and in total it has a positive height of 140m. It seems a non-technical circuit where the strongest and fastest on clean downhills can have their chance.

Main favorites for the victory in the XCO World Cup of Les Gets 2019

After what we saw in Vallnord and in the two previous races of Albstadt and Nove Mesto, it would be easy and accurate to say that there are many favorites to victory, but we are going to try to specify.

In the women's category

As it has been usual in the past few years, the most exciting races for the public are being lived in the women's event, and Vallnord was one of these. The Dutch Anne Terpstra won, but we saw an immense Jolanda Neff who was able to overcome 22 positions in a matter of 50 minutes and some big names like those of Yana Belomonia, Pauline Ferrand Prevot or Jenny Rissveds who joined the party for the podium.

If we have to point out some favorites for Les Gets, we will start with Pauline Ferrand Prevot who was able to fight for the first places and plays with the advantage of running at home. But if Kate Courtney recovers from Vallnord's bad feelings, she finished eighth, maybe the victory is between her and Jolanda Neff.

In the men's category

In men's category, the same thing happens, and that is that after Vallnord the spectrum of favorites has opened a lot, not like years ago. To make things easier we have to remember that Mathieu Van der Poel will not be at Les Gets either. So that leaves us with some options open.

With Nino Schurter in the starting line we can not do anything but declare him as the top favorite, but the truth is that in Vallnord he suffered a lot and we did not see him win as in other occasions. Jordan Sarrou, Maxime Marotte, Victor Koretzky or the French champion Titouan Carod compete at home and any of them could win with no surprise to anyone.

On the other hand, Henrique Avancini was left hungry for victory and could go for it all in a non-technical circuit that favors him. Another that this year is deserving to be at the podium is Mathias Flueckiger and with which we have to count for Les Gets. We can add the Italian Kerschbaumer, who after a somewhat timid start of the season and rolls with the best again.
