8 million per year and a release clause of 200 million, that's the new contract of Pogacar
The memorable season of Tadej Pogacar had to have its economic repercussions. And UAE Team Emirates has wasted no time in renewing the contract of one of the greatest cyclists of all time, tying him down with staggering figures.
UAE Team Emirates secures Tadej Pogacar until 2030
Tadej Pogacar was already, for obvious reasons, the highest paid cyclist in the world. Now he will be even more so after renewing his contract with UAE Team Emirates, which will run until the 2030 season, when the Slovenian will be 32 years old.
This new contract will see Tadej Pogacar earn an additional million euros per year, 8 million in total, compared to his previous contract which was still in force until 2027. This figure would be the base, as apparently certain bonuses based on results would also be included, potentially increasing the Slovenian's earnings to an undetermined amount.

Furthermore, UAE Team Emirates has taken care to properly protect its best asset by establishing a dizzying release clause of 200 million euros, making it virtually impossible for any team to try to sign Tadej Pogacar given the budgets involved in professional cycling.
With this new salary, Tadej Pogacar practically doubles the earnings of the second highest paid cyclist in current cycling, Remco Evenepoel, who has a contract worth around 5 million, followed by Primoz Roglic whose contract would amount to 4.5 million euros.
In any case, the salary that UAE Team Emirates will pay Tadej Pogacar is fully deserved considering his outstanding 2024 season, in which the Slovenian achieved the Giro-Tour double that no cyclist had managed since 1998, added two more monuments to his palmares, Liege and Lombardy; won the rainbow jersey at the Zurich World Championships in addition to victories in the Volta a Catalunya, GP Montreal, Giro dell'Emilia, and Strade Bianche, practically dominating every race he entered.
