YT Industries enters restructuring: strategic restart or countdown for the brand?
The German brand is starting a legal process to reorganize its financial structure, seek new investors, and ensure its long-term survival
YT Industries announces a restructuring phase
The well-known German firm YT Industries has officially announced that it will undergo a self-administered restructuring in its home country. The decision, communicated by its founder Markus Flossmann through a video on YouTube, aims to stabilize the company's financial situation and facilitate the entry of new investors. A measure that comes after several particularly tough years for the entire cycling industry.
"This is not the end, it is a new beginning. An opportunity to reorganize the pieces and prepare for the future," explained Flossmann, visibly emotional, in his statement.
YT Industries was born 17 years ago with a groundbreaking focus: high-performance gravity bikes, aggressive design, and competitive prices, sold directly to consumers. The formula worked. In a few years, the brand became a reference in gravity MTB, with a strong presence in markets like North America, where it currently generates almost half of its revenue.

However, after the years of prosperity during the pandemic, the so-called "whiplash effect" was felt: excess stock, supply chain problems, unstable commercial policies in the U.S., natural disasters, and, more recently, a failure in a key supplier. All of this has caused a difficult cocktail to digest for a company that had already undergone several rounds of investment to cover past losses.
Flossmann, who had stepped down as CEO five years ago after the entry of the Ardian Expansion fund, returned to the helm to try to redirect the course. Warehouses were emptied, new models were prepared, and costs were adjusted. But it was not enough.
"We fought until the end. But under the current structure, we have not been able to secure the necessary funding to continue," he acknowledged.
What will happen to the team and ambassadors?
YT has a lineup of top-level riders like Spanish Bienve Aguado, Vali Höll, or Dylan Stark, and has been one of the pillars of the global freeride scene in recent years. However, this restructuring raises doubts about the continuity of contracts, sponsorships, and events. Management has assured that operations and customer service will continue to function normally during the process.
Flossmann's message has been clear: this is not a farewell, but a commitment to rebuild on a stronger foundation. "We are in talks with new partners and I trust that this process will make us stronger and more ambitious than ever," he declared.
