World Champion Sammie Maxwell signs with Rockrider Ford Racing Team
The New Zealander Samara Maxwell is being the great revelation of the U-23 XCO season and after being very consistent in the World Cup and being proclaimed World Champion in her category a few weeks ago, she has just announced her signing with the Rockrider Ford Racing Team.
The Rockrider Ford Racing Team signs Samara Maxwell, the great XCO U-23 revelation of 2023
At 21, Sammie Maxwell has been winning national titles almost since she started racing as a Junior, but although in 2022 she raced a couple of World Cup events, Andorra and Lenzerheide, it wasn't until 2023 that we saw her do the full race circuit.
Her season in the XCO World Cup was being a success with races very close to victory and without dropping out of the Top 10 in any race, but her best day was in Glasgow. Young Sammie Maxwell was proclaimed Under-23 XCO World Champion in Scotland a few weeks ago and since then we imagine that many teams were knocking on her door.
Finally it was the Rockrider Ford Racing Team who will have the rainbow jersey in the team. A signing for 3 years that seems to fit well in the formation that the Decathlon brand and Ford devised for this new stage.
The team announced this on social networks: "The Rockrider Ford team is delighted to announce the arrival of Under-23 World Champion Samara Maxwell, effective immediately and for the next three seasons."
"It’s been a dream ever since I can remember to be a professional cyclist. Beyond honoured to say, that thanks to Rockrider Ford Racing Team this dream is finally a reality. I already feel so at home in this team and have had the biggest, warmest welcome. It only makes me even more excited to see what we can achieve in the future together" Samara stated.
Maxwell will wear the Rockrider Ford Racing Team colors for the last two World Cup races after the Olympic Test Event.
