Rohan Dennis charged over wife’s death in car incident

The two-time world champion in team pursuit, Rohan Dennis, 33 years old, was arrested and released on bail on the last day of 2023 after the fatal car hit of his wife, the former cyclist Melissa Hoskins, 32 years old.

On the night of December 30, former Olympic cyclist Melissa Hoskins was fatally hit near her home in Adelaide. Local media have reported that her husband, Rohan Dennis, was driving the vehicle and was arrested for dangerous driving, although he has already been released on bail and must appear in court on March 13.

Melissa and Rohan were married in 2018, have two children together and both had moved back to Adelaide after Dennis had retired this year from professional cycling after competing his last season with Jumbo-Visma.

The incident is under investigation by the competent authorities and the case is being treated, so far, as an accidental death.
