We tried the long Subzero cycling trousers from Gobik: infallible against the winter
Winter can be a challenge for cyclists, but the Gobik Subzero cycling trousers are designed to make rides in low temperatures or icy winds much more comfortable. We have tested it on several rides in intense cold and wet conditions, and we share our experience with you.
We tested the Gobik Subzero Black cycling trousers
Starting with the aesthetic aspect, the Gobik Subzero is a garment with a clean and functional cut. Its elegant appearance ensures that it can be in our wardrobe for many seasons without fear of going out of style. But also, its entire construction focuses on practical aspects, such as flat seams that prevent chafing, the high double-layer waist, reflective details, or the snug fit that perfectly adapts to the body shape of each cyclist while remaining comfortable.

Regarding comfort and protection against the cold, it is the construction materials that really make the difference in this garment. The award-winning Polartec® Power Shield™ Pro is a fabric that offers an excellent shield against wind and water while providing great breathability. In addition, the winter lycra and the inner fleece add flexibility and extra warmth, making it an ideal choice for the coldest days. It is no coincidence that the Gobik Subzero has been awarded the Polartec Apex award, a recognition that endorses its innovation and performance.

Another key point in any culotte is the chamois, and in this case, we find one of excellent quality. The K10 Graphene chamois has been developed exclusively for Gobik by the Italian specialist Elastic Interface®. Foams of different densities are distributed throughout the chamois to optimize comfort on long rides, and its memory foam allows it to recover its absorption capacity on each ride. The graphene thread fabric prevents the proliferation of bacteria and manages moisture optimally.
Our rides with the Subzero Black culotte
During this winter, we have been able to enjoy the Gobik Subzero on the coldest days on the road and even caught some rain on the route with it. And we can tell you that the Subzero culotte met all our expectations.
Regarding the fit, the culotte is available in a wide range of sizes, from 2XS to 2XL, allowing for a personalized fit for all types of cyclists. We recommend taking the time to choose your ideal size because it offers high muscle compression that is appreciated both for the feeling of comfort and on long rides where it delays muscle fatigue. In our case, we tested a size M unit and the fit was perfect, without chafing or extreme compression. The elastic bands on the waist and leg cuffs ensure that the garment stays in place, even during intense movements.

During rides with temperatures close to 0°C, it kept our legs warm even on fast descents, where cold wind is usually the biggest problem. It also surprised us with its ability to repel light rain, allowing us to keep pedaling without worrying about moisture.
The chamois is another positive point. It is a comfortable and well-designed chamois that we had already been able to test on other occasions and is ideal for long distances. After several hours on the bike, there were no discomfort or pressure in sensitive areas, which is greatly appreciated on long rides.
In conclusion, the Subzero Black culotte seemed to us to be a garment of great quality and has become our essential for true winter days on the bike.
Its current price is €165 on the Gobik website, and although it is a culotte that is not versatile for other seasons, we believe it is a great investment due to its combination of advanced technologies, comfort, and durability. It will be a reliable garment on cold days that can remain in any cyclist's wardrobe for years.
