La Vuelta selects teams for 2026
Following the announcement of the presence of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA in the upcoming Tour de France 2026, La Vuelta a España also chose today to announce which teams will participate in its next edition. Apart from the mandatory World Tour teams and the three best Pro Teams from last year, the two available wildcards have gone to Burgos Burpellet-BH and Kern Pharma, which was absent in last year's edition.

Burgos Burpellet-BH and Kern Pharma receive the two wildcards for La Vuelta 2026
We already know the invitations for La Vuelta 2026, with no surprises if we consider the usual policy of rotating, partially, among the Spanish Pro Teams.
Once again, unlike last year and as in previous years, there were two wildcards available to distribute among Pro Teams, and with Euskaltel not eligible due to its classification last year and with Burgos Burpellet-BH practically assured as the Burgos provincial government is one of the main sponsors of the Spanish round, it only remained to know whether the last invitation would go to Caja Rural-Seguros RGA or Kern Pharma.

However, since Caja Rural-Seguros RGA was the chosen one last year, the turn has passed to Kern Pharma, which will likely try to repeat its performance from two years ago when Pablo Castrillo became the revelation cyclist of the race.
Therefore, the participation in La Vuelta 2026 will finally consist of the 18 World Teams, the three best Pro Teams from last year: Tudor, Pinarello-Q36.5, and Cofidis, and the aforementioned Burgos Burpellet-BH and Kern Pharma.
