Primoz Roglic wins his third Vuelta a España
No surprises in the time trial that closed this edition of La Vuelta a España. Slovenian Primoz Roglic took the last stage between Padrón and Santiago de Compostela and even dressed as a pilgrim to celebrate his third overall victory in the Vuelta a España. A well-deserved victory for a champion who deserves it.
Another victory for Primoz Roglic at the Santiago de Compostela finale
The Vuelta a España 2021 closed with a time trial between Padrón and Santiago de Compostela, which Primoz Roglic, Olympic champion in this discipline, did not forgive. The Slovenian beat all his rivals to put the finishing touch to his third overall victory in the great Spanish round.

Roglic took his fourth stage win of LA Vuelta a España 2021 ahead of Denmark's Nielsen (EF), Arensman (DSM) and Cerny, who was the first to start and led the provisional classification for most of the race. Enric Mas (Movistar) clocked 2:04 more than the Slovenian but his second place on the podium was not at risk. The podium was closed by Australian Jack Haig (Bahrain Victorious).
In addition to the overall victory of Primoz Roglic, who equals with his third Vuelta a cycling legend like the Swiss Tony Rominger, the other winners of this edition were the following:
Fabio Jakobsen (Deucenick): most points.
Michael Storer (DSM): best climber.
Gino Mader (Bahrain Victorious): Youth classification.
Bahrain Victorios: best team.
Magnus Cort Nielsen: most combative rider.
Thus closes a Vuelta a España 2021 that has had in the Slovenian Primoz Roglic a more than fair winner and that has left as a negative note to highlight that for the first time in the history of the great Spanish round no Spanish rider has achieved a stage victory. 2022 will be another year.
