Vlad Dascalu leaves Trek Pirelli
After a great season in which he has been on the podium several times and was close to the medals at the World Championships and Olympic Games, Vlad Dascalu has just announced that he is leaving the Trek Pirelli team for 2022. He is one of the most promising XC specialists on the current scene and his change of team is one of the most important moves on the World Cup grid.
Vlad Dascalu leaves the Trek Pirelli team
In 2019, Vlad Dascalu was the real revelation in his category and with the Brújula Bike Racing Team he managed to win the overall victory of the U23 World Cup and become World Champion of the category. In 2020 he made the jump to the Elite category and did it with the Italian structure of Trek Pirelli, a team that was focused on marathon and stage races until then, but decided to bet on the XC with the signing of Dascalu.
After a year of adaptation to the Elite category, marked by restrictions and lack of competition, in 2021 Dascalu's performance has been consolidated in competition, reaching the podium in the Leogang and Snowshoe World Cup races, in fact in the Snowshoe event he almost took the victory, and showing himself capable of fighting for the top positions in all the important events.

It’s time for me to say a huge thank you to Trek Pirelli team. It has been two years where I had the privilege to work together with great people who helped me through hard times to came back stronger. Together we have achieved great things!
The news of his change of team does not come as a great surprise if we take into account his potential and the fact that he has had several offers on the table for months. But the question now is which jersey we will see him in next year.
So far there are few rumours, but everything leads us to believe that the jump will be to a factory team and there the options are quite limited. Given the dates we are at the moment, we are sure that in a couple of days all doubts will be cleared up.
