Vingegaard leaves the hospital 12 days after the accident
Good news for Jonas Vingegaard who, finally, leaves the Txagorritxu hospital in Vitoria, where he was admitted since the serious fall that marked the 4th stage of the last edition of the Itzulia and that has raised doubts in the cycling world about whether he will be able to recover and, moreover, do so with guarantees, looking ahead to the next Tour de France.
Jonas Vingegaard returns home to continue his recovery
After 12 days since the spectacular fall in the 4th stage of the Itzulia and after being operated on to treat the collarbone fracture that occurred and, probably the most serious injury he suffered, a pneumothorax in the lung, Jonas Vingegaard has finally been discharged and has the approval of the doctors to return home and recover there, although it is still uncertain whether he will do so in Denmark or at his brother's house in Switzerland.
These days have not been without controversy due to the lack of information from the Visma-Lease a Bike team about Jonas Vingegaard's health status. Even statements from the cyclist's father to a Danish media outlet were revealed in which he expressed, "A week has passed since his fall and my wife and I still haven't heard anything from Jonas. We haven't been able to talk to him or his wife or the team. I don't know how this is possible.".

In any case, with Jonas Vingegaard's discharge from the hospital, all the cyclists involved in this incident are now in the process of recovery, with more or less serious injuries but which, in no case, should prevent them from being back in shape in a few months.
In Vingegaard's specific case, the sports director of Visma-Lease a Bike, Merijn Zeeman, commented that, obviously, they would have to adjust the approach plan for the Tour de France, which is only 74 days away. At the moment, the Dane will not participate in the altitude training camp they had planned to do in May, with all planning dependent on the evolution of both the fractured ribs, which is the reason why Wout van Aert had to withdraw from the Giro d'Italia, and especially the pneumothorax. At the moment, it is estimated that he will have to be off the bike for up to 6 weeks, leaving him just over a month to do specific Tour preparation, which is clearly insufficient.

There have been no statements from Jonas Vingegaard upon leaving the hospital, just a brief post from Visma-Lease a Bike in which the cyclist thanks for the support received and the care provided by the staff at the Vitoria hospital.
