Vingegaard could switch teams: Uno-X confirms contact and sets a condition
Jonas Vingegaard reappears in the transfer market and this time the interest comes from Scandinavia. Thor Hushovd, general manager of Uno-X Mobility, has acknowledged that there have been contacts with the Danish rider's camp and has explained how his signing could be financed. The operation is far from being finalized, but the Norwegian team does not rule out attempting one of the major signings in cycling.
Uno-X confirms contacts with Vingegaard and proposes a formula to tackle his signing
The future of Jonas Vingegaard is generating movements outside of Visma-Lease a Bike once again. Although the two-time Tour de France winner has a contract until the end of 2028, Uno-X Mobility has been interested in incorporating him into their project for some time. Now, their top official has confirmed that this interest has led to some conversations.
"You talk to a lot of people within this environment. Cycling is a small world and we have had some conversations", Thor Hushovd acknowledged in statements to Norwegian television TV 2.
The former world champion did not specify with whom these contacts have taken place or how far they have progressed. Therefore, there is no record of a formal negotiation to take Vingegaard out of Visma, although his words confirm that the possibility of incorporating him remains in Uno-X's plans.

The main difficulty in carrying out the signing is financial. Vingegaard would earn around five million euros annually, according to published estimates about his contract, while Uno-X's total budget would be around 20 million.
Hushovd does not consider allocating such a large amount of the team's current resources to a single rider and has proposed an alternative.
"What I am not interested in about signing Vingegaard is having to pay his salary. It is quite high. But it could be possible to bring in a Danish company that wants to establish itself in Norway", he explained.
The idea is to find a sponsor willing to finance part of the operation and take advantage of the commercial impact that the arrival of Denmark's most important cyclist would have on a structure that brings together Norwegian and Danish riders.
This is not the first time Hushovd has spoken about this possibility. In October 2025, when Uno-X had just obtained its WorldTour license, the Norwegian publicly expressed his desire to bring together the great Scandinavian figures.
At that time, in an interview with Dagbladet, he placed both Vingegaard and Mads Pedersen among the signings he dreamed of, although he acknowledged his personal preference for the Lidl-Trek rider due to his offensive style.
That ambition was accompanied by an idea that continues to be part of the team's strategy: to develop their own riders until they become contenders to win the major races, rather than relying solely on expensive signings.
Vingegaard has a contract until 2028 and has shown no intention of leaving
Uno-X's interest contrasts with the stance Vingegaard has publicly maintained regarding his future. The Dane has indicated on several occasions that he cannot imagine competing for another team and his commitment to Visma-Lease a Bike extends until the end of the 2028 season.
However, his name has been linked to other structures for months. The Netcompany-Ineos project has also been associated with the rider, although Vingegaard himself has downplayed that possibility.
Uno-X has, at least, a close link to the cyclist through Magnus Cort. The Dane, who has ended his career this season, stated in August that Vingegaard had mentioned to him that if he ever left Visma, Uno-X would be his only alternative.
For now, Hushovd has not announced an offer nor is there information pointing to an imminent departure. What he has made clear is that the Scandinavian team is willing to explore an operation that is currently beyond their financial capacity, as long as they find the necessary backing to make it a reality.
