Vidaurre takes advantage of his offseason to compete in DH
After an intense XC season, Chilean biker Martín Vidaurre is enjoying a few months in his country and there he combines his training with the construction of a new XCO circuit and even a DH competition, a discipline that endurance cyclists rarely try.
Martin Vidaurre tries competitive DH
Although it is often joked that XCO is getting closer to DH due to its technical circuits, the truth is that both disciplines are at opposite ends. Martín Vidaurre himself explains it well by saying that in XCO World Cup races there is more margin for error, they last about 90 minutes, while in a DH descent you risk everything in 3 minutes.
Vidaurre shows in this new video how his off-season in Chile is going. There he combines the creation of a new XCO circuit in Valdivia from scratch, with volume training where he accumulates kilometers at low intensity and also has time to have fun competing in DH.
The Specialized Factory Team cyclist took part in the Chillán race of the Open Shimano DH, and there he competed with a customized Stumpjumper on which he managed to qualify for the final and achieve a 6th place. Great performance for one of the most technical XCO cyclists on the grid who even managed to surprise Nino Schurter on some occasions.
