Vidaurre gives a master class on race strategy: "I hid trying not to make any noise"
Chilean Martin Viadurre won the XCO World Cup in Val di Sole last Sunday, his first elite victory in this competition and also the first for Chile. A milestone that he himself has explained in detail in his latest video. A masterclass in strategy where he reveals how he was thinking and acting from Friday until the last corner on Sunday.
Martin Vidaurre reveals his entire strategy to win the XCO World Cup in Val di Sole
The video is literally a masterclass where Vidaurre, sitting in the middle of the circuit, begins by explaining that he never planned to win in Val di Sole, he did consider it for the previous race in Leogang, but the mud didn't allow him to perform at his best.
From there, it is very interesting to hear how he changed his strategy from Friday while competing in the Short Track and at one point lost the leading positions in the race. At that moment, he decided to stop wasting energy and started thinking that if he arrived well on Sunday, he could do something great.
In the second half of the video, he narrates what he experienced from the starting grid, how he made the right decisions from the initial loop, how he "hid and used" Fabio Puntener to lead him forward, and the final attacks that took him practically to the limit.

With this victory, Vidaurre establishes himself as one of the best elite cyclists of the moment and more importantly, regains confidence in himself that, as he explains, he had lost in the last three years. Only time will tell if that confidence will help him continue to add victories in this 2025.
