Van der Poel will headline the Madrid Criterium and announces it himself in Spanish
The current world champion Mathieu van der Poel has just announced that he will be at the Madrid-Criterium on October 29th. The rainbow jersey will be the star of the event and will join big names such as Juan Ayuso, Marc Soler, Carlos Verona, Juan Pedro López, Luis León Sánchez or the Spanish champion Oier Lazkano, among others.

Although Van der Poel is a regular in Spain, both for training and partying, the truth is that he had never competed in any Spanish road race, but he had competed in cyclo-cross, where he won last January. And he himself has been in charge of communicating it in perfect Spanish from the social networks of the event.
The second edition of the Madrid Criterium will be held on 29 October through the streets of the Spanish capital and although in theory the Alpecin-Deceuninck rider is currently in his off-season, he will certainly try to succeed the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar as the winner of the race.
RECOMENDADO
Van der Poel's participation does not close the chapter of additions to Madrid Criterium. If a few days ago the presence of, among others, Juan Ayuso, Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates) and Juanpe López (Lidl-Trek) was confirmed, now it is the turn of the Spanish champion, Oier Lazkano.
The Movistar Team rider, who won the national gold medal in the capital, returns to Madrid wearing his prized distinctive jersey after a great season in which he has won four races. He will be joined by two other members of the team: Carlos Verona and Iván Romeo.
