Van Aert's hard crash that ends Dwars door Vlaanderen in the ambulance

He was the top favorite to win the 2024 edition of Dwars door Vlaanderen, but Wout van Aert has suffered a hard crash that has sent him directly to the ambulance. The extent of his injuries is not yet known, but his heartbreaking screams after the accident have raised concerns for the Belgian.

The crash occurred in a very fast area and up to twelve cyclists were involved, but it seems that the cause was Van Aert himself stumbling over a road irregularity.

The Italian Michele Gazzolli from the Astana team, and the Belgians Jasper Stuyven from Lidl-Trek, and Van Aert from Visma Lease a Bike, had to be transported by ambulance.
