Two suits of armour, two lances and two e-bikes: this video has already racked up over 5 million views
If you are one of those who only see bikes on social media and this video hasn't popped up for you yet, we have to tell you that it is one of the funniest in recent days and has little to do with cycling. It has already accumulated over 5 million views and features a medieval joust in the middle of London where two men dressed in armor face off on rental electric bikes.
"Our electric bikes are not made for participating in medieval jousts"
The scene took place in London Fields, a park in East London, where artist Jack Carden and actor known as Camtholomew the First decided to revive an ancient medieval tradition with a rather peculiar twist: replacing horses with rental electric bikes.
Both appeared fully equipped with armor, helmets, and long lances, and began to face off trying to knock each other off their bikes. What initially was intended as a free artistic performance ended up gathering hundreds of spectators and becoming a phenomenon on social media, where the images have already accumulated millions of views.
Lime has had to remind that their e-bikes are not designed for medieval jousts
The impact of the video has been such that even Lime, the company that owns the electric bikes used during the duel, has had to publicly comment. Their response has been as amusing as the competition itself.

"Lime bikes are designed for getting around the city, not for participating in medieval jousts. While we appreciate the medieval spirit, safety must always come first." explained the company in statements collected by the BBC.
"We discourage anyone from attempting to organize similar events to ensure the safety of both users and those around them." added the bike rental company.
For his part, Carden has already expressed his intention to organize a rematch. It seems that, despite the manufacturer's warnings, medieval jousts on electric bikes may not have ended here.
