Turn any bike into a cargo bike with this kit
Argo, a small company based in Colorado, has created this curious kit that allows you to transform almost any bike model into a cargo bike very easily. A solution for those who seek the versatility in their daily lives that a cargo bike provides but do not want to make the investment required to acquire one.
Argo Fy, the kit that transforms your bike into a cargo bike
Just when it seems like nothing can surprise us in the world of bicycles, a company launches a product that leaves us speechless. A good example is the Fy kit created by the American company Argo. A kit designed to attach to a conventional bicycle and turn it into a cargo bike.
The Argo kit is composed of what would be the entire front part of a cargo bike, that is, an aluminum substructure that houses a generous cargo compartment and on which a small front wheel and steering system are mounted. A subframe that extends with a central tube that will be the main responsible for connecting the kit to our bike.

To connect both parts, the fork is fixed to the steering system with a coupling compatible with quick releases or thru axles, while the central tube mentioned earlier is fixed under the bottom bracket of our bike to a connection piece that we have to place on the bike. Here we find one of the limitations of the system since, to fix the connection piece, it is necessary to have a threaded bottom bracket, so if our bike uses pressfit, we will not be able to use the Argo kit.
Another limitation related to the bottom bracket is with electric bikes with a central motor where it is not possible to place the connection piece.
The Fy kit includes a pre-mounted brake on the front wheel with its lever and double screw clamp to allow easy attachment to any flat handlebar. Obviously, if our bike is a gravel or road bike, with a curved handlebar, we can either place this brake lever on the horizontal part of it or move our brake to the front wheel, for which we will need to replace the hose with a longer one. Laborious but possible to adapt.
Once the Argo kit is installed, it is difficult to distinguish the bike from a conventional cargo bike, with a large cargo area and a central stand that keeps the bike upright when we get off it. An alternative for those who want to have a cargo bike without having to invest the cost of one, as the Argo kit allows us to transform our bike for just over 950 euros.
