TRP and Classified present the group Vistar//Powershift
Exactly one year ago, Classified announced at Eurobike the collaboration with TRP to jointly develop the Vistar//Powershift group combining TRP's Vistar electronic group with the Classified Powershift hub to create a single-chainring group with fully integrated sequential operation with 15 or 16 consecutive gears. Now this group is hitting the market ready to become an alternative to the major transmission brands.
The Vistar//Powershift group is here, the result of the alliance between TRP and Classified
We rarely see the arrival of new players in the world of bicycle transmissions where everything seems dominated by Shimano, SRAM, and, to a lesser extent, Campagnolo. Then, more marginally, we find other players like Microshift, FSA with their electronic group, or the hydraulic group that Rotor had.
However, the arrival of the TRP Classified Vistar//Powershift group to the market represents a small disturbance in the status quo of the transmission market with a bet that seeks not only to be solvent but also to provide a differentiating solution.

We remind you that TRP is the high-end components brand of Tektro. Brands that have made a name for themselves in the brake market, with some really good products, and that, in recent years, have introduced complete groups like the one that forms the basis of this Vistar//Powershift. On the other hand, Classified has been making waves for some years now with its Powershift hub with two internally actuated electronic relationships with the intention of eliminating gear changes on bikes without losing the range and scaling of relationships that 2X transmissions allow.
However, Classified's good intentions clashed from the start with the approach of SRAM and Shimano, reluctant to a system that could take away their spotlight. Even so, some cyclists like Victor Campenaerts used the Classified Powershift system during the spring classics.
Seeing that they were not going to achieve anything through the major players, Classified sought an alliance with TRP last year to create a group that integrated the hub actuation without the need for auxiliary controls as was necessary with the rest of the market groups, thus giving rise to the TRP Classified Vistar//Powershift now hitting the market.
A group that, thanks to the QuantumShift operation, allows a completely transparent sequential operation to the user given the tremendous speed at which the Powershift hub is actuated, so that the cyclist only needs to shift gears up and down to achieve a smoother or harder ratio, as if it were a single-chainring change but with 15 or 16 gears depending on how we program the development compensation when the Powershift hub is actuated.
Although the optimal operation of the Vistar//Powershift group is this, we can overlook it and configure the group as if it were a 2X but with the difference that we are facing a single-chainring group in which the plate change functions are taken over by the two relationships of the Powershift hub.
All the operation is integrated into the TRP levers that have a completely modern ergonomics with a reduced size and a fairly wide horizontal part to integrate perfectly into current handlebars and offer optimal grip to the hand. Each one includes two buttons joined in the same piece, of course, fully configurable through the mobile App. Needless to say, all their brakes reflect TRP's undeniable experience.
The cassette is the usual Powershift one, with a core system only compatible with this hub. It has 12 gears and is available in 4 combinations: 11-30 and 11-32 geared for road use; and 11-36 and 11-40 designed for gravel. A cassette that can be combined with different options of cranks and plates. Both in aero plate version for road and gravel as well as in a conventional version.
These are cranks with an oversized 30 mm axle and 52 and 50 plates for road use, and for gravel, the brand offers 48, 46, and 44 tooth plates. The three crank models are available in the most common length measurements, that is, 170, 172.5, and 175, with no options available for those who adhere to the trend of using short cranks.
The rear derailleur, at least in appearance, has nothing to envy from its rivals. Nor in construction, with a pulley made of carbon fiber as well as the outer part of its parallelogram. The rest is made of forged aluminum. Of course, being a derailleur that will work with a single chainring and also in gravel, its pulley cage has an adjustable clutch system to tension the chain and prevent it from slapping due to bumps.
The group is completed with a central unit that is located in the place where the handlebar plug would go and serves to select between sequential or manual shift mode, acts as a Bluetooth transmitter to connect the system to the mobile App, and also has an LED that provides information about the chosen mode and battery charge. In addition, it also has ANT+ transmission that allows connecting the group to our cycle computer to obtain the usual information on gear ratio or battery status.
The TRP Classified Vistar//Powershift group is now available for sale at a price of €2,800.
