The Trek Supercaliber Gen 2 has just been released. The American brand renews its flagship for XC improving the IsoTrust concept of rear suspension specific for this modality and with updates in the frame and geometry. Travel increases to 110mm in the fork and 80mm in the shock, which is now RockShox specific. The price of the Supercaliber 2 starts at 3999€.

Keys to the Trek Supercaliber 2

  • Increases rear travel from 60 to 80mm and front travel from 100 to 110mm
  • Improved Isotrust suspension system
  • New RockShox SIDLuxe IsoStrut shock (new frame is not compatible with previous Fox Isotrust)
  • Two frame types SLR and SL
  • Updated geometry
  • Weight: 9.45 kg for the lightest Supercaliber 2 in the range
  • Prices: from 3,999€ to 11,499€.
It looks the same, but the Supercaliber 2 arrives with important new features

Trek Supercaliber Gen 2, the renewal of a reference bike

The Supercaliber is the star of Trek's XC catalog and since its creation in 2020 has won everything in competition from Championships and World Cups to the Olympic gold. Already at its birth it was a trend-breaking concept and Trek bet on short travel, stiffness and lightness. Something that has worked for them and what they continue to rely on for this second generation of Supercaliber.

The Trek Supercaliber Gen 2 is an update of the previous model; this is not a bike that breaks with its predecessor. And the most important changes are in the suspension and frame updates.

More travel and new RockShox Sid Luxe IsoStrut

This is undoubtedly the most remarkable feature. The Supercaliber 2 now has 60 to 80 mm of rear travel and from 100 to 110 mm in the fork. An update that confirms its commitment to a pure XC mountain bike and leaves aside the more aggressive tendency of the modality.

Trek uncouples from Fox with new RockShox Sid Luxe IsoStrut

In addition, Trek has decided to move away from Fox on this Supercaliber 2 - who played an important role in the early development of the linkage-less system - and has opted for a new RockShox Sid Luxe IsoStrut shock developed especially for this model.

The IsoTrust system dispenses with the use of a linkage and runs parallel to the top tube, saving weight and improving stiffness

The new shock offers more travel without sacrificing weight or adjustability, is easier to remove for maintenance and promises more linear behavior throughout its range.

2 frame types SL and SLR

The Supercaliber Gen 2 now has two frame levels, the SLR and the SL. Both are made of carbon and promise the same stiffness, but the SLR dispenses with internal guiding and is up to 250g lighter.

Trek Supercaliber 2 comes with two frame versions SL and SLR

The Supercaliber 2 SLR frame is focused on competition and designed for mounting with electronic components without cables and integrated handlebars. It is used in the Supercaliber 9.8 and 9.9 SLR models.

Electronic components make it possible to reduce the weight of the frame by eliminating part of the internal guidance system.

The Supercaliber 2 SL version has a complete internal routing that facilitates the assembly and maintenance of cable components. Its weight is equivalent to that of the first generation Supercaliber (2030g) and can be found in the Supercaliber 9.6, 9.7 SL models.

Floating support for rear caliper

The frame mounts a floating rear brake mount, which improves braking performance and helps reduce frame weight.

Updated geometry

The geometry has changed slightly to adapt to the challenges of today's XC. The steering angle remains at 67.5°, following the trend of relaxing this measurement in order to make the bike more stable and confidently tackle descents - the Gen 1 was 69°. The saddle angle is 70° and 71° for sizes L and XL. Reach is increased from 455 to 465 mm, while the stack remains at 594 mm.
