Tobias Lund Andresen wins the sprint in stage 3 of the Tirreno-Adriatico
The third stage of the 2026 Tirreno-Adriatico ended in a sprint after a long day marked by rain and isolated attempts to liven up the race. After 221 kilometers between Cortona and Magliano de' Marsi, the Danish rider Tobias Lund Andresen (Decathlon-CMA CGM) was the fastest in a slightly uphill finish, surpassing Arnaud De Lie and Jasper Philipsen.
Lund Andresen wins a long stage controlled by the sprinter teams
The day, the longest of this edition of the "Race of the Two Seas," featured nearly 1,850 meters of elevation gain and a notable climb in the route. However, the profile and the control of the peloton ultimately directed the race towards a mass finish.
The only significant breakaway of the day was led by the Spaniard Diego Pablo Sevilla (Polti VisitMalta). The rider from Madrid rode solo for much of the stage, taking the opportunity to secure the mountain points and place himself at the top of that classification. His adventure ended with several kilometers to go when the sprinter teams increased their pace.

With Alpecin-Deceuninck, Lidl-Trek, Lotto-Intermarché, INEOS Grenadiers, and Decathlon-CMA CGM working at the front, any attempt at a surprise was neutralized, and the peloton arrived compact at the final stretch.
The approach to the finish was marked by the tension typical of a mass arrival. With one kilometer to go, there was even a moment of danger when a rider from Soudal-Quick Step nearly went down.
In the final push, Jonathan Milan launched too early and ended up paying for the effort. In contrast, Tobias Lund Andresen waited for his moment and launched his sprint in the final stretch of the slight uphill towards the finish.
The Dane managed to maintain his speed to the line to achieve his third victory of the season, while Arnaud De Lie finished second and Jasper Philipsen, after moving up positions in the final meters, completed the podium.

The general classification does not suffer significant changes. The mass arrival prevented differences among the riders in the general classification, so Isaac Del Toro continues at the front of the race after Mathieu van der Poel's victory in the previous stage. The contenders for the final victory maintain their positions before the route begins to toughen in the coming days.
