Time Xpro 12 SL: the lightest road pedals on the market
Achieving lightweight and resistant pedals is not an easy task due to the need to integrate the entire fixation system and the small size of this component, which minimizes the margin to shave off grams. However, Time has managed to do so by reducing their renowned Xpresso pedals to the minimum expression and using the best materials available.
87 g, a record for the new Time Xpro 12 SL pedals
Time, a pioneering company in the manufacturing of automatic pedals and one of the responsible ones, back in the mid-80s, for making this component replace traditional pedals with straps and toe clips.
In recent times, the market for automatic pedals for road cycling has been dominated by Look, the most widespread, and Shimano. However, Time has always been there, in recent times with their Xpresso models and their unique ski-like binding proposal where the pedal has open and closed positions in addition to its characteristic floatability, highly appreciated by many for minimizing the possibility of knee problems.

Now Time takes their pedals to the next level with the creation of these Xpro 12 SL, where the structure of the Xpresso is improved by slightly increasing the contact surface between cleat and pedal, which is now 725 mm², 25 more, to enhance the transfer of force applied by the cyclist.
Of course, the iClick fixation system is maintained with the characteristics mentioned before, which is activated by a carbon blade whose hardness can be adjusted in three positions. Additionally, to achieve a perfect biomechanical adjustment, these new Xpro 12 SL pedals are available in 3 pedal axle lengths to achieve the ideal Q-factor for our physiology.
These axles, obviously, being an ultralight pedal, are made of hollow titanium and leave the final weight of them at an unbeatable 87.3 g. However, having such exclusive pedals comes at a price, specifically 490 €.
