Thule acquires Aeroe and prepares a new generation of bikepacking accessories
Thule strengthens its presence in bikepacking with the acquisition of Aeroe, a New Zealand brand specialized in racks and bags for mountain and gravel bikes. The Swedish company will integrate these solutions into its catalog and plans to market them under its own brand starting in the second quarter of 2027.
What is Aeroe and why is it of interest to Thule
Aeroe was born in New Zealand over a decade ago, founded by brothers Mike and Paddy Maguire. Its specialty is rigid racks that can be installed on practically any bike, even if it lacks mounting points.
Its most well-known product is the Spider Rear Rack, a rack that attaches directly to the rear stays, without the need to use threaded anchors on the frame.

Its main advantage is compatibility with dual suspension bikes and dropper posts, where conventional racks can be difficult to install. Additionally, it allows for the placement of different mounts for waterproof bags, tents, and other accessories, distributing the load on top or the sides.
The catalog also includes front transport systems, handlebar mounts, panniers, and bags with quick attachments.
Interestingly, the relationship between both companies goes back a long way. The founders of Aeroe themselves developed the Freeload rack, the rights to which they sold to Thule in 2011, which eventually became the current Tour Rack. The operation thus involves incorporating a new generation of products developed by the same creators.

Aeroe products will be sold as Thule in 2027
The commercial integration is planned for the second quarter of 2027. According to information provided by Thule, Aeroe systems will be incorporated into its catalog and relaunched under the Swedish brand.
The models that will be part of this new offering, their prices, and whether they will receive technical modifications compared to the current versions have not yet been specified.

The incorporation of Aeroe will allow Thule to particularly expand its offering for MTB and gravel, two modalities where lightweight, removable, and sport bike-compatible transport systems are becoming increasingly important.
This operation comes after other acquisitions related to cycling accessories, such as Quad Lock in 2024, and confirms Thule's interest in strengthening its bicycle equipment business.
