This bike for 40,000€ seems more like a joke than a real eMTB
The price of bicycles is a recurring topic in the world of cycling. And although in recent months manufacturers seem to have slowed down the rate hike, there are still models that completely exceed the chart. The best example is the BLULANS S11 ULT, an e-MTB so peculiar that it's hard to believe it's real.
BLULANS S11 ULT: the €40,000 e-MTB with two rear shocks and the most surreal opinions
A few weeks ago, Specialized presented the S-Works Turbo Levo 4 LTD, the most exclusive version of its electric range. With top-level assembly and one of the most advanced assistance systems on the market, its price reaches €20,000. However, the BLULANS S11 ULT raises the stakes to unsuspected levels exceeding €40,000 and, to top it off, the manufacturer's website claims it's sold out... even though there are no clear images proving its existence.
The most striking feature of the S11 ULT is its rear suspension with double RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate shock absorbers, one of them with electronic Flight Attendant control. A system almost unheard of in the industry and that the manufacturer barely justifies beyond exclusivity.

Do climbing bikes make sense in cycling today?
The assembly also surprises: RockShox Zeb Ultimate fork with Flight Attendant, SRAM Level ULT four-piston brakes (in the photos they seem to lack hoses), DT Swiss carbon wheels, SRAM XX Transmission drivetrain, wireless RockShox Reverb dropper post, and an integrated one-piece handlebar with stem.
Inside the carbon frame hides a Bafang M560 Mid-Drive motor "customized" to deliver 130 Nm of torque and 400 W of maximum power, accompanied by an internal 882 Wh battery. The declared weight is 26 kg, with a limited two-year warranty for the frame and electrical system.
But what really raises doubts are the reviews on the official website, which seem like they're from a sketch:
“My neighbor bought this bike and now my wife doesn't want to sleep with me. Ron has been drifting in front of the house all weekend. I can't believe it has two shocks; my S-Works Levo 4 only has one.”
“The best thing about this bike is the bluetooth brakes. I always hated cables. Now I squeeze the lever and my feet dig into the ground, perfect for the toughest downhill.”
“I was about to buy a Levo 4, but I'm glad I waited. For $36,000 more I have an extra shock absorber and bigger buttons. I hope they release a version with two forks soon.”
With these features and comments, the BLULANS S11 ULT seems more like a viral experiment than a real bike destined for the trails. A model that, more than for its performance, stands out for being a parody of excess in the industry.
