These exclusive 3D-printed titanium Rudy Project glasses cost €950
The high prices of cycling materials in recent years no longer surprise anyone, but Rudy Project has gone a step further with the launch of the Performance 40, a pair of ultra-limited edition glasses that reach 950 euros. This is a commemorative model celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Italian brand and one of the foundational moments in its sporting history.
Rudy Project Performance 40 Glasses: Titanium to Honor an Icon from 1986
The Performance 40 are born as a tribute to the Super Performance, the glasses with which Moreno Argentin became the world road champion in 1986, in Colorado Springs. That victory turned Rudy Project into a cult brand within the professional peloton and marked the beginning of its international expansion.

The story, now part of the brand's narrative, places the origin of that success in an agreement sealed with a simple handshake between Argentin and the founder of the brand, Rudy Barbazza, the night before the World Championship. The next day, the Italian cyclist conquered the rainbow jersey, and the Super Performance went from being a new product to an object of desire.

The new Performance 40 are manufactured in only 100 numbered units, all featuring a 3D printed titanium frame with an internal lattice structure. According to the brand, this hollow design allows for a weight of 36 grams, a competitive figure even against conventional glasses, but very uncommon in metal frames.

The perforated architecture is not only for aesthetic reasons. Rudy Project explains that this type of construction offers a very precise balance between lightness, rigidity, and resistance, something impossible to replicate through traditional molding processes and that defines both the performance and the visual identity of the model.
The Performance 40 incorporate a curved lens, adjustable nose bridge, and a series of exclusive details such as the historic Rudy Project logo, the signature of Rudy Barbazza laser-engraved, or the individual numbering from 1 to 100 on the lens. All of this reinforces their status as a collector's item.

The model is also delivered in a special collector's packaging, created specifically to celebrate the 40 years of the brand's history, with visual references to the colors and original identity of 1985.
The Rudy Project Performance 40 are now available for 950 euros through the official website of the brand, with production strictly limited to 100 units worldwide.
