The World Gravel Championship will be in the Netherlands on October 11 and 12
When rumors were already beginning to circulate about the non-dispute of the Gravel World Championship in 2025 after months without the announcement of the venue, finally the UCI made public that the World Championship of this discipline will return to northern Europe. After being held last year in Leuven, it is now the turn of the neighboring Netherlands, not too far from the venue of the previous edition.
Limburg province will host the 2025 Gravel World Championship
Initially, the 2025 Gravel World Championship was supposed to be held in Nice, but when the UCI announced the calendar of its Gravel World Series, the venue of the World Championship appeared as pending confirmation. This has been the case for all these months in which there has even been speculation about the non-dispute of the event.
Finally, the UCI has once again turned to Golazo, one of the main organizers of cycling events in the Belgium and Netherlands region, to take charge of the 2025 Gravel World Championship that will take place in the province of Limburg, with the main collaboration of Maastricht, Beek, and Beekdaelen, towns through which, obviously, the race will take place. A terrain that will not be unfamiliar to road cycling fans as it is precisely the same one faced by participants in the Amstel Gold Race.

With the organization of this 2025 Gravel World Championship, Limburg aims to strengthen its status as a UCI Bike Region, a label granted by the highest body of this sport to recognize the main cycling destinations. In fact, apart from the aforementioned Amstel Gold Race, Limburg has hosted top-level events such as the Cyclocross World Championship and no less than five editions of the Road World Championship.
“I am delighted that the South Limburg region, in the province of Limburg, is participating in the organization of the UCI 2025 Gravel World Championship and I want to thank them for their candidacy after Nice's withdrawal” expressed UCI President David Lappartient.
Meanwhile, Christophe Impens, International Cycling Director of Golazo, also expressed his satisfaction “At Golazo, we are extremely proud to organize the UCI 2025 Gravel World Championship in the beautiful region of South Limburg, an iconic cycling area”. This also consolidates this organizer as one of the main players in the gravel discipline since last year they were also responsible for the Leuven World Championship, the previous year they were in charge of the European Championship of the discipline, and they organize the events of the World Gravel Series that take place in those regions.
The Gravel World Championship will take place on the scheduled dates, that is, on October 11 and 12, 2025, and so far, no information has been released about the characteristics of the route, although the geography of the area suggests a tough World Championship through the endless hills of the Limburg region.
