The UCI is very interested in the airbag for cyclists and is making a global call
In the last meeting of the UCI Management Committee, the highest body of cycling decided to launch a call for interested parties to develop protective equipment to improve the safety of peloton cyclists in case of a fall. This call is now being made public with the official statement from the UCI.

Getting to work, the UCI seeks collaboration to develop and implement airbags in cycling
Although the UCI has been in contact with several stakeholders in the cycling sector for the development of airbags and their integration with the technical equipment of cyclists, the governing body of international cycling seeks to expand collaboration to the maximum number of manufacturers and institutes working on the development of protection systems for cyclists.
The objective of this initiative is, on one hand, to define a clear framework and standards that allow for the development and integration of airbags in cycling, both for competition and training. On the other hand, beyond the protection that airbags can offer, there is also a focus on working on the development of the technical clothing used by cyclists to find ways to enhance the protection provided by the clothing itself.

All those interested in contributing their knowledge, developments, and research can contact the UCI before March 15 through a web form, and subsequently, within this same year, the UCI intends to form several working groups that will also include SafeR, in order to finalize the improvements in cyclist safety that should be implemented in the near future.
