"The thinnest pedals on the market" and super lightweight, that's how the new OneUp XC Clip pedals are
OneUp Components expands its catalog beyond trail and gravity with the launch of the new XC Clip Pedal, a model specifically designed for cross-country, gravel, and competitive use, where every gram and every millimeter count. The Canadian brand focuses on a minimalist, lightweight pedal with an extremely low profile that aims to improve pedaling efficiency and the connection between shoe and pedal.
OneUp Components presents its new XC Clip pedals: ultra-thin, lightweight, and compatible with SPD
With a declared weight of 303 grams per pair and a total profile of only 26.8 mm, OneUp claims that these are the thinnest double-sided automatic pedals on the market within the SPD standard. Their launch price is €159.99 and they will be available in six different colors.

The main hallmark of these new pedals is their low total height, a feature that reduces the distance between the pedal axle and the shoe sole. According to OneUp, this configuration allows for improved power transfer and provides a greater sense of stability while pedaling, especially during intense efforts such as standing sprints or accelerations.

The pedal body has been designed with a very compact construction to eliminate unnecessary material without compromising strength. The result is a pedal aimed at XC and gravel competition, where lightness and mechanical efficiency are priorities.

Although the XC Clip uses a system compatible with SPD cleats, OneUp has developed its own anchoring mechanism. The brand claims that the design focuses on minimizing play between the cleat and pedal, and increasing the maximum release tension.
To achieve this, the interface between the cleat and the anchoring mechanism has been completely redesigned, seeking a firmer fit that provides a more solid connection feel without eliminating the necessary "play" for natural pedaling.

Additionally, the pedals offer a wider tension adjustment range than Shimano SPD models, allowing fine-tuning of the behavior according to the cyclist's preferences.
Internally, the XC Clip uses a chromoly axle that rotates on two sealed bearings and a self-lubricating bushing, all protected by a double seal on the axle. This assembly shares components with other pedals from the brand, such as the Wave and Clip, making it easier to find replacement parts and perform maintenance.

OneUp has also designed the system so that maintenance can be easily performed using a specific tool included.
The pedals include spacers for the cleats, allowing adjustment of the position to improve engagement depending on the shoe used. This system can be useful in cases where the sole interferes with the pedal and makes clipping difficult.
In terms of compatibility, they work with OneUp cleats, are compatible with Shimano SH51 SPD, and any shoe with a two-bolt attachment should be compatible (although spacers may be required in some cases).
