Warner Bros. Discovery strengthens its commitment to mountain biking with the return of "Race Bikes," the documentary series that focuses on some of the most influential downhill and cross-country bikes. Following the success of its first installment, the production returns with four new episodes that delve into the machines, the riders, and the stories that have defined an era.

Race Bikes returns with a second season focused on the most iconic MTB bikes

The new season will air in Europe via Eurosport, in the UK and Ireland through TNT Sports, and will also be available on demand on HBO Max. The format retains its essence, with host Ric McLaughlin at the helm, exploring from within the development and evolution of key models in modern MTB.

The premiere will arrive on April 7 with an episode dedicated to Loris Vergier's Commencal Supreme, one of the most awarded downhill bikes. The chapter includes interviews with Max Commencal at the brand's headquarters in Andorra, providing context on how one of the discipline's benchmarks was built.

In the second episode, the series travels back in time to reconstruct Aaron Gwin's dominance on the Trek Session 9.9 between 2011 and 2012. Through the testimony of Martin Whiteley, former manager of Trek World Racing, it reviews one of the most dominant phases of the World Cup, in which Gwin achieved nine victories and two overall titles.

The third chapter shifts focus to cross-country with the Cannondale Scalpel and the figure of Jolanda Neff. The series analyzes the evolution of the American brand to reach the top of XCO, while also reviewing the career of the Olympic champion.

The season finale is reserved for one of the most enigmatic bikes on the current circuit, the Specialized Project Black of Loïc Bruni. A project developed almost in secret that represents the technological limit in downhill, and is also the first bike that McLaughlin has been able to test within the program.

McLaughlin himself explains that the goal of the series goes beyond the bikes. He points out that each model is the result of a human story, of technical decisions, and of key moments that have led these machines to become benchmarks. The intention is to attract both the expert enthusiast and those approaching cycling from a more general perspective.

The first season reached 3.3 million online viewers, which has propelled the continuity of the project within WBD Sports' content strategy. Additionally, the platform already offers all previous episodes on HBO Max.

This launch comes at a key moment for MTB, with the start of the WHOOP UCI World Cup 2026 scheduled for May 1 in YongPyong, South Korea, marking the return of the circuit to the Asian continent after 25 years. WBD will continue to provide comprehensive live and on-demand coverage, reinforcing its positioning as one of the main players in the broadcasting of mountain biking.
