PSG acknowledges contacts to enter cycling and leaves the decision up in the air
The Paris Saint-Germain could expand its presence in professional sports beyond football in the coming years. The French club has confirmed that it has received proposals to enter cycling, a possibility that exists but on which it has not yet made a decision.
The statements, reported by L’Équipe, come from the club's general director, Victoriano Melero, who confirmed that external interest existed and that PSG considered that possibility.
“We have received proposals to enter cycling,” explained the executive, confirming that the external interest in linking PSG with the professional peloton is real.

However, that initial contact has not translated into a developing project. “For now, we have not followed up. I thought it wouldn’t be bad as publicity; it would simply be incredible through the Tour de France, but no, we have not followed up,” he added.

Melero's words suggest that cycling is not a discarded idea within the club, but rather an option that has been analyzed from a strategic point of view, especially for its media impact.
The executive himself refers to the Tour de France as one of the great showcases of world sport, capable of offering global visibility that is hard to match.
In this context, it would not be surprising if Qatar, the current owner of PSG through a sovereign fund, has considered following the path of other countries in the region that have already bet on cycling as a tool for international projection. Cases like the United Arab Emirates with the UAE Team Emirates XRG or Bahrain with Team Bahrain Victorious have demonstrated the positive impact that such structures can generate in terms of global image and brand visibility within the sport.
As of today, there is no defined project or roadmap for PSG's entry into cycling. But rather than a negative, we might think that the idea is still on the table, pending a decision.
