To achieve this, two new sections have been incorporated into the route, Artres, 1,300 m long; and Famars, 1,200 m long, which are introduced just before Arenberg. Although they are not particularly difficult, they now make it 5 almost consecutive sectors that cyclists will have to cross before reaching the feared section.
Two new sections that have already been used in the GP Denain route and will be present again in competition in the next edition of the 4 Days of Dunkirk.
Regarding the approach to Arenberg itself, a small detour has been created in the mining area that takes the name of the mythical section, a small loop that involves facing four 90-degree turns, all in the kilometer before the entrance, forcing the peloton to brake and stretch out, so the whip can be devastating.
In total, the race will cover 259.2 kilometers and 30 cobbled sectors. On the other hand, the women's race maintains its unchanged route from last year.
