The new SRAM prototype is seen in Nino Schurter's Spark
SCOTT and SRAM have prepared one of the most spectacular bikes of Nino Schurter's career. The multiple world champion will not only ride at home with a unique aesthetic, in allusion to the Swiss flag, but will also be the first to show the public a possible update of the SRAM XX SL Eagle group.
Nino Schurter says goodbye in Lenzerheide with a SRAM prototype
The most striking detail is in the cranks and the pulley cage, personalized in that vibrant red. But what is really intriguing is when you look at the rear derailleur. It is not the usual SRAM XX SL Eagle AXS, but a prototype identified with the Black Box logo, the brand's development program.

Due to its design and battery placement, it resembles the RED XPLR AXS gravel group, SRAM's first 1x13 transmission. The battery is located more protected within the structure that connects the derailleur to the frame.

This structural change may have been part of SRAM's plans for some time or it may be a direct response to the new Shimano XTR Di2, recently presented with an ultracompact and protected design, as well as a much faster shifting speed than the American competition. Not in vain, SRAM has also just released a firmware update for its transmission that improves the speed of each shift.

For now, the mysteries remain open: are we facing the next generation of SRAM's top-of-the-line group for MTB or an evolution in another direction? We will have to wait for new clues to know the answer.
