The new Canyon Exceed 2025 reinvents itself: faster than a gravel bike, lighter than a full-suspension MTB

The new Canyon Exceed 2025 has just been presented with a change in concept driven by the current mountain bike trend. The Exceed has been a highly acclaimed model, but rigid bikes are becoming less relevant in current races and its new version is geared towards adventure.

The Canyon Exceed has been the brand's high-performance XCO rigid model for years. It has won XCM World Championships, set records in Leadville, and achieved numerous podiums in the XCO World Cup. But competition mountain biking has changed forever and full suspension bikes are currently the fastest option, so Canyon has decided to give a new focus to the Exceed 2025 by bringing all its competition experience to adventure cycling.

The new Exceed features a rear triangle that has been designed to better absorb impacts and terrain irregularities, and its geometry now offers greater safety and control thanks to its more relaxed 67° head angle, 10mm more reach and wheelbase, and a lower top tube height that provide stability and control at high speeds.

Riding comfort is also greatly contributed by the ability to mount tires up to 2.4" and Canyon's iconic VCLS 2.0 seatpost, which now comes with a 31.6mm diameter, compatible with more robust dropper posts. Its patented leaf spring design reduces vibrations and improves comfort, offering a similar feel to a hardtail bike without power loss.

The brand defines this new Exceed well, and it could be extended to all rigid mountain bikes, as a very fast bike on mountain terrain, more than a gravel bike, and lighter than a full suspension bike. The ideal balance for cyclists who want to ride for long days on terrain away from tracks and roads.

Among the details that make this new Exceed a perfect model for bikepacking are the mounting points for three 750ml bottles (except in size XS), a spacious front triangle that allows for large frame bags or the integrated storage in the diagonal tube for carrying essential tools and spares.

Other important features of the new Exceed 2025 include its compatibility with the UDH hanger, 12mm axle, frame protections located on the diagonal tube and chainstays, BSA threaded bottom bracket, or integrated handlebar lock to prevent impacts against the frame.
