The modern XC according to Transition: this is the new Spur V2
The American brand Transition updates its most versatile platform with the new Spur V2, an evolution that maintains the original concept of a lightweight and fast 120 mm bike, but expands its range of use with 130 mm of front travel and structural and functional improvements designed for modern XC, which is becoming increasingly technical.

Transition presents the new Spur V2: 130 mm in front, geometry adjustment, and more capability without losing XC DNA
The Transition Spur remains a bike that is hard to categorize. The brand defines it as an XC that doesn't require labels and emphasizes that it is efficient enough to compete, but with the character and stability needed to tackle more aggressive trails. This fits well with what is known as Downcountry, and this second generation of Spur reinforces that dual personality.
More travel in front, same rear balance
The most visible change compared to the previous version is the increase in front travel to 130 mm, optimized around the Fox 34 Float SL. Transition explains that this configuration responds to the evolution of XC circuits, which are now more demanding in descents and technical areas. The goal, they assure, is not to turn it into a lightweight trail bike, but to offer greater margin and confidence without penalizing climbing efficiency.

At the rear, the 120 mm of travel remains, now with a system at the lower shock mount that allows for a half-degree adjustment of the head angle and a 7 mm variation in bottom bracket height. This allows for fine-tuning the behavior according to preferences or terrain type.
GiddyUp suspension and flex stay design
The Spur V2 retains the GiddyUp rear system, a single pivot supported by the flex of the stays, which characterized the original model. Transition insists that this solution provides a lively and reactive feel, with a high progression curve that combines initial sensitivity with resistance at the end of the travel.

The brand claims to have refined the system in this second generation without altering that deep and controlled feel that distinguished the first Spur within the 120 mm segment.

New practical solutions and aesthetic improvements
In addition to the increase in front travel, the V2 incorporates internal storage in the frame through the B.O.O.M. Box system, a fully assisted internal routing with new ports in the head tube to facilitate assembly and reduce noise, and the integration of all the hardware and components in the area where the stays and link meet to improve visual cleanliness and prevent dirt accumulation.

It also introduces the so-called Loam Hat, a protection aimed at preventing dirt from entering critical areas and prolonging the lifespan of the bearings. The industrial design evolves with cleaner lines, while maintaining the visual identity of the original Spur.

Geometry and frame
The new Spur is offered in sizes SM, MD, LG, and XL, all with 29-inch wheels. The head angle is set at 66° in high position and 65.5° in low position. The effective seat angle varies slightly by size, ranging from 77.3° in small size to 76° in XL size in high configuration. The chainstays also change by size, with 434 mm in SM and MD and 439 mm in LG and XL in high position.

The frame uses IS42/IS52 head tube, a threaded 73 mm bottom bracket, a 12x148 mm rear axle compatible with SRAM UDH, and a 160 mm Post Mount brake mount with the possibility of mounting a rotor of up to 200 mm. The shock is 190x45 mm and the seat post has a diameter of 31.6 mm. The maximum chainring allowed is 36 teeth.

Transition offers a lifetime warranty for the original owner, along with an accident replacement program.
